The COVID-19 outbreak may have changed the way we travel, but it hasn't stopped our desire to explore. Here are some tips on how to handle travel's new challenges:

• Find out the rules and restrictions in both your origin and destination. It may not be possible to travel depending on local circumstances, so check before you book.
• Requirements state that you must wear a face mask at the airport, even at screening checkpoints. Be prepared to lower your mask for ID purposes when asked.
• Do not hand your boarding pass (paper or electronic) directly to a TSA employee. Rather, position the pass on the reader and then hold it up for the agent to visually inspect it.
• You're allowed to take one container of hand sanitizer up to 12 oz (350 ml) in your hand luggage. This will need to be removed for screening.
• To minimize handling during screening, put items such as your phone and loose change into your carry-on instead of the bins.
• Transport your food items in a clear plastic bag and also place them in a screening bin. Keeping your food separate from your carry-on means it's less likely a TSA agent will need to touch and open your bag for inspection.
