Little River State Beach

From the outside this property looked awful, run down with peeling paint, trash everywhere, the bin overflowing, junked cars parked, some appearing not to be drivable. It was not at all a place I would choose. The pictures on the website presented a very different picture. Fortunately the office staff told us they were full and our reservation had been transferred to the Super 8 in Fortuna which was very nice and we appreciated being there.

Hard review to write. I didn’t know what to expect as the rating for the hotel was high but the price was on the low end. The hotel is the only one in town. Scotia was/is slumber town. So the mill dominates everything. There is a market across the street but not much commercial buildings or businesses nearby. Surrounded by the small residential houses originally owned by the lumber company but sold many years ago. When we checked in, there weren’t many people. We were shown to our room and decided to look for dinner. I couldn’t tell if there really was a restaurant there as there was no one around (literally). The place just seemed so empty. We drove to Ferndale and actually spur of the moment got a hotel room there.
