I had been led to believe this was a quaint hill town community and home of Texas barbecue. In fact it is a rundown ghost town next to a busy bypass litteted with fast food outlets.

there was a dirty sock in our room and asked to be moved to another room

The general state of cleanliness was poor. At a glance it was okay, then you notice. Any corner was dirty, the dishes in the cupboard were dirty, knives and silver had food residue, the microwave was full of crumbs. The rooms were smaller than the photos depict, no surprise there.

Everything was perfect. Except the damn birds in the mornings. It was so loud. Completely out of the hotels control- just bring noise cancelling ear buds :)
