Perfect family holiday house

This house was perfect for our family of six. Plenty of space, and the outdoor area was really nice and we loved the pool. The host was very friendly and helpful. I can highly recommend a stay in this house! We would love to come back. ☀️

Quaint Garden House

We enjoyed our stay in the secret garden home. However, it does need some updating and deep cleaning. The kitchen faucet is broken and leaky which makes it hard to do the dishes without the hose spraying everywhere. The spa did not work when we tried to use it. It never heated above 80 degrees. The towels and bed linens could use replacement. There was a mildew smell throughout the house.

Nice family getaway

The house is beautiful and well stocked. I stayed for Mother's day and my family and I enjoyed the beautiful gardens with several types of trees and flowers. The swimming pool and hot tub were awesome but the stone steps around the pool become very slick so please exercise caution. Overall we enjoyed a lovely family vacation nestled away in our own private space.

Comfortable house and garden plus pool in LA region

Convenient and quiet location (dead-end road), large and well-maintained garden and pool. Very spacious house, generously furnished. Kitchen outfit partly needs stocking up and/or replacements. Easy contact to and immediate reply by friendly host if needed. All in all, a real nice and comfortable place for a relaxing stay in the LA region. Highly recommended!

A fantastic property in a great location!

The property is spectacular, with plenty of room for everyone. The house itself is very well equipped and there were even some basic ingredients left in the kitchen - meaning we just had to cover the food basis a for the first couple of days. Luisa is a great host, with fabulous communication and was very helpful with our additional requests and questions. Our party included teenagers, who were particularly happy with the high speed internet and Smart TV’s in all the bedrooms! We would highly recommend this property for an ideal base to explore LA and the surrounding areas.

Fabulous getaway spot

We’ve stayed at the property twice now. It’s a great spot to hang out and catch up with friends. The pool & hot tub are very relaxing & refreshing. The grounds are in excellent condition. We love that we can park our (3-4) cars in the driveway. We look forward to our next trip.

Family wedding

A great property for a group of people, we had 8! The pool and hot tub were really nice. We would have benefited with additional silverware and dishes so we didn’t have to run the dishwasher after each meal.

Best LA rental ever

We stayed at this house with some friends for a long weekend. We were all seniors ( 60-90). The house was big and rambling. There were so many interesting things to see in the home. It had everything we needed in the kitchen. The outdoor area was huge and private. Great house and good central location.

Off to the Races

Beautiful property, we were in LA to attend the Breeders Cup Races.and stayed 3 nights and 4 days. The spanish villa is truly hidden away right there in Whitter! So much to love about the house, the outside grounds, the pool, the hot tub and the secluded area. Luisa helped answer all our questions, after 4 days we felt so comfortable, didn't want to leave. When we're back in Los Angelas we will definitely be back.

Beautiful pool and jacuzzi in an old Spanish-style mansion

Very large and quirky older house which is kept very clean. I'm from New England and the place reminds me of those big old vacation homes you might rent for a week on Cape Cod or in Maine. There is a history here and if you like that in a vacation home, this is for you. We stayed during historic cold temperatures in the LA area, and the house was very comfortable. Also note that the house will be very difficult for anyone in a wheelchair or a walker as there are many small steps.

Great place in great location!

Beautiful house! Enough room for my family of 10 and a few daytime visitors! Grandkids loved the hot tub and pool even though it was freezing cold! Luisa was very accommodating and easy to communicate with! The house had everything you need although a few dish towels would be nice! Clean and nicely decorated! I was worried about my grandkids with all the nice things but no incidents or accidents 😁. Overall a great place to stay! Both indoor and out had plenty of space to enjoy! Highly recommend!

Good location and great owner

Lots of room, but no place to congregate/eat together if you have a lot of people at the house as we did. It would be helpful to have plastic dishes and cups for the pool and for kids. House is outdated, a bit musty smelling, but in good working order overall. My older daughters and their spouses reported that their beds weren’t very comfortable. Mine was great. It was in the bedroom with the two single beds. It’s about 30 minutes without traffic to Burbank airport, and same to Disneyland. Owner was great and very responsive.

Great overall spot!

We were in town for the Rose Float Parade so a little farther out than we thought we'd be, but the home and grounds are charming. There was an inaccuracy in the description -- claimed to have EV charging, and it most definitely did not. This caused some disruption to our stay that we hadn't planned for. Never could get the TV Spectrum service to work for local channels, but we did have Netflix, Hulu, etc. A larger couch, sectional or something would be nice in the living room. Was not functional for hanging out and playing games or watching TV - not enough seating, and we only had four people. Would go back, however, because it was funky and cute and the grounds are amazing. Yard is entirely fenced with a security gate at driveway.

Not The Best If You Like Communication

I had rented this property a year in advance for our 7 day stay Christmas Day thru New Years day.The day before we arrived we were told the pool heater was broken. No big deal, things happen. However, I had emailed two days prior with no response. The home was cute, it was supplied nicely for our needs. There was no check or check out list. There was no real direction on the lights in the house or laundry room.(super confusing) No suggestion for dinning or entertainment. No guest book. Just a bottle of Wine on the table, that I wasn't sure was ours or for looks. It was the strangest VRBO I have ever stayed in and we rent on average two a year. As stated the communication was lacking. Instead of calling to tell me two men were coming to the home at night, while the other two adult members of my family were gone. It was a little unnerving. The next day, I was there alone again, and the pool guy opens the gate, and walks in to work on the pool heater. Upon arrival the outdoor area was dirty, spider webs, leaves everywhere. I'm from Oregon, I get leaves. But not when someone has paid a lot of money to stay at a VRBO. The pool was dirty, and the Hot tub cover smelled a bit moldy. Not at all what I was expecting, a bit disappointed for a trip we had been planning in general for about 5 years. It was my daughters 10th Birthday, and our first trip to the Los Angeles area and Disneyland. We will not be back, or use this host again. Happy Travels :)

Classic charm and great outdoor space

My family and I stayed here for six nights over spring break. Overall, we had a great experience and enjoyed the house very much. There's plenty of space indoors (my two boys each got their own bedroom) and out. The outdoor area is especially lovely, with a great hot tub, beautiful pool which we had heated for half our stay (extra cost but worth it to us), and well-maintained foliage, including palm and fruit trees. The owner, Luisa, was very responsive and helpful. All that said, this house might not be for everyone. The decor and furnishings are old-school, which could be regarded as either charming or "dated", depending on your perspective and personal taste. If you squint, the interior is a little rough around the edges due to its age -- which didn't bother us, but could bother some people. Also, if your vacation plan is to stay in and cook your own meals, you might want to find a place that has a more fully stocked kitchen -- this one is fine for basic food preparation, but nothing elaborate. Our only other quibble was that, as far as we could tell, you couldn't open any of the windows, which wasn't ideal for sleeping. We turned on the AC even though low temperatures outside were in the 50s. Anyway, the positives greatly outweigh the little negatives. We really like the Spanish Home in the Secret Garden.

Whittier College Homecoming

We are Whittier college graduates. We were in Whittier to celebrate a friends memorial and also to participate in your college homecoming activities. We chose this VRBO home due to its proximity to the college and the fact that it looked like a quaint, quiet quaint place on-line. Mostly, we enjoyed our stay. The house was very secluded in a nice neighborhood. We were disappointed that Home has some sort of infestation of tiny mosquitoes that we were not forewarned about. My wife and another guest were bitten in what we thought were bedbugs, but turned out to be these mosquitoes. That was disappointing. My recommendation to the host given the fact that they knew about this problem would’ve been to have been up-front and let us know about this in advance.
