• Before you lock in a flight, find out if any travel bans or restrictions apply — in both your destination and origin. Get the latest updates by checking official government websites.
• Wear a face mask even during airport screening. A TSA officer will require you to lower your mask temporarily for identification purposes.
• Avoid handing your boarding pass (electronic or paper) directly to a TSA officer. Instead, position the pass on the reader and then hold it up for inspection.
• You're allowed to take one container of hand sanitizer up to 12 oz (350 ml) in your hand luggage. You'll need to remove it for X-ray scanning.
• Place any personal items (e.g, keys, phone and coins) in your carry-on instead of a bin to minimize handling during screening.
• Separate any food you're carrying for X-ray scanning. Food items often trigger the alarm. Putting them in a clear plastic bag and into a bin reduces the need for a TSA agent to touch and inspect your belongings.
