Great hotel in central location with comfortable room. Immaculately clean everywhere. Lovely rooftop pool, excellent spa facilities with indoor pool, sauna and steam room. Breakfast choices and.service were very good with fabulous fruit every day and tasty fresh egg dishes. Didn’t eat in the restaurant in the evening. So convenient for all sights, dining and shopping. Would definitely visit again.

Location is excellent. Despite being only a couple blocks from all the restaurants, shops, and bars, the hotel is perfectly located on a quiet side street. Our included breakfast was among the best I have experienced anywhere. Service was excellent and both the quality and choice of foods was perfect. The hotel facilities, from the sauna, fitness center, etc. and the rooftop lap pool and whirlpool are wonderful. Our room was upgraded to a beautiful suite. This is really a top hotel in a beautiful and quiet neighborhood that would be my first choice if visiting Funchal again.

Lovely hotel in the heart of Funchal - less than 5 minutes walk to the shops, restaurants and the seafront and under 10 minutes from the old town and cable car station. Yet far enough away from the town hub to be quiet at night. Stunning views of Funchal from rooftop pool area, great spa and good gym facilities. Great hotel, the breakfast had a great variety and you could even order from a menu and it was included. Rooftop patio was nice. Only one hot tub, so a little crowded. Parking on site and some very close by so not an issue. Staff were great.

Awesome Hotel
From the minute we stepped in the front door we were made to feel welcomed. They went out of their way to make our visit special. The hotel is lovely and had so many amenities that we didn't even have a chance to use them all. Even when we told them we were checking out before breakfast (which is excellent) they offered to pack us a picnic to take to the airport with us. We would highly recommend this establishment.

Lovely hotel nestled close to the town centre in the residential area, so great location. Nice little pool and sun terrace, although not really big enough for 80 rooms if everyone decided to use it. Service from all staff was wonderful, very friendly helpful and nothing too much trouble.

The facility was clean and elegant. The staff was all friendly and helpful. I was disappointed that we did not have a bathtub. They showed them in the add and I requested a rm with a tub. It was nice that the had a hot tub on the room. It was wonderful up there. When I return I will stay there.

Lovely hotel right in the heart of the old town so very easy to walk to shops, sights and the seafront. The room was very comfortable with a gorgeous bathroom. The food in the restaurant was amazing and really good value for money. Breakfast included was varied, plentiful and delicious. Shout out to all the staff especially in the restaurant who were so friendly and really looked after you. Would definitely stay again.

We had a terrific stay! We have been to many hotels and Castanheiro Hotel may be our favourite ever. The location is perfect for exploring Funchal. The staff is phenomenal and went out of their way to ensure our honeymoon was memorable. Lucia, along with the other front desk staff, are truly amazing and so helpful. The views from the roof top are just WOW! The restaurant, Tipographia has incredible food (try the salmon!). Highly recommend.

Highly recommend this hotel.
Great location - walking distance to all the restaurants and to the front. Inside it’s got heaps of character and nice touches. Room was spacious and bathroom excellent. Above all it’s the service that’s stand out ❤️ It was both mine and my wife’s birthday during our stay and it was a nice touch that all the reception staff knew. Communication between the front desk and the rest of the hotel was good, made our stay a seamless experience. Definitely stay here again.

Great Hotel in the heart of Funchal
Great Hotel in the heart of Funchal. Location if perfect, amazing amenities, spacious rooms. The infinity pool on the rooftop is a gem. The restaurant Tipograhia is a must. Dont miss it. Very accommodating staff. 5 stars.

A well designed smallish hotel very centrally located in Funchal. We had booked for room and breakfast but had the majority of evening meals there too as the food was so good. The service was great and staff were very friendly - nothing seemed too much for them - and we shall definitely be visiting them again. Our first of, hopefully, several visits to Madeira.

Just brilliant
Brilliant stay! Stayed there for our honeymoon. Room was brilliant. A bottle of champagne was waiting in the room. Crazy cool rooftop pool and jacuzzi and beyond great service. Can’t recommend this enough.

It was a really lovely stay for me and my friend. Would highly recommend for a quiet getaway break in Madeira. We were greeted by an excellent front desk staff. Only drawback was that there was no iron provided in the hotel so keep in mind when you're travelling. Only laundry services provided if you needed something pressed. Another feedback would be that it would be great to add some ambient music to the pool area to bring some life to the space on certain times of the day. Else you can really hear everything that's happening in the pool space, including any movement on the squeaky pool chairs. More details really to an otherwise great holiday.

Fantastic boutique hotel
Beautiful hotel and in a fantastic location in Funchal. The room we had was lovely and a really good size. We particularly liked the pool area and it’s incredible view. All of the staff were very friendly and breakfast was good. Would definitely return here if in Funchal again.

Location of hotel was great for exploring the town of Funchal . The boutique hotel itself was very stylish and very clean. The hotel staff were knowledgeable and extremely helpful.
