Removed from the resort beachfront crowds, the 2 acre Banyan Tree simply overflows with peace and Hawaiiana. Giant Banyan, Monkeypod and Jacaranda trees create perfect shady spots to lounge or sun lovers can enjoy spectacular ocean and mountain views while hanging out around the large pool.

We are just a mile to the quaint cowboy town of Makawao and a 15 drive down to Paia, both of which are brimming with restaurant choices and boutiques. Paia is also home to some of the best beaches on the island.

For those whose taste leans a bit more adventurous than beach days, upcountry Maui is also known for its hiking and mountain biking. Between Poli Poli, Haleakala National Park, and the Makawao Forest Reserve, you will have more than enough exploration options for your trip.

We had an amazing vacation here. We had 4 generations ranging from 4 months to 81 years and everyone had a great time. There was room to spread out and room to all gather together. Having the private pool and spa was perfect. Host was available when we needed her and the B and B was well stocked. We also loved the Maui feel of the accommodations and being out of the busier parts of Maui. I highly recommend this venue for larger groups!

What a special property. The location is perfect. We rented it for a work training and it was excellent since everyone has their own room/bathroom but we were able to meet in the large living room for evening presentations/discussions. The host was responsive with questions. It was very clean and check-in was easy. I hope to return again for both this meeting and with family for vacation.

Rooms were clean. Timely response by host.Couple of times locked ourself out of our rooms. Host showed up in minutes and had them unlocked for us. Work Retreat Paradise!

Helaina's banyan tree paradise was the perfect place for our annual work retreat, and a great vacation spot for large groups! It met all our needs-- clean, spacious property with plenty of rooms for individuals and couples, kitchen stockful of supplies to cook our meals, large communal living space to hold our informal work meeting, and a beautiful pool and outdoor space to relax in. Great location only 15 minutes from the airport and walking distance to downtown Makawao and a local tequila distillery. Highly recommend!

A very special family holiday

After months of searching for a spot and planning a family Christmas/New Year vacation for me and my extended family, including 4 toddlers, we settled on the this property on Maui. Simply put, it was perfect for all of us. Beautiful compound on a stunning piece of property with hosts who jumped through hoops to be sure we were happy and comfortable. Wonderful place to stay

We were a family of 13 and this property was perfect for our Hawaiian vacay! Lots of lush greenery and flowers, open space for the kids to play, pool and hot tub that we all enjoyed and the main house was large enough for us all to gather in. The kitchen was large and spacious and had everything we needed to make meals. And the location was excellent! Centrally located to all the sites and beaches on Maui and 20 minutes from the airport. Our host, Helaina, was lovely and very responsive to any questions or needs that we had. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to others without reservation!

Great place, great location

This was an excellent property for our family reunion. We stayed in 7 bedrooms with attached baths. The kitchen and dining rooms were large enough to accommodate our needs. The kids loved the on-site pool and ping pong table. The location was central to all the activities we took advantage of. Being close to the airport (as well as Costco) was an added advantage as we made multiple pickup trips to the airport. The check-in and check out with Helaina was a breeze. We had no issues and would highly recommend this property for large groups.

The Banyan Tree

This property was an amazing oasis for our large group. Plenty of beds and separate areas for relaxing. The backyard was very large and fun for our children to play in. The pool is much larger than it seems in the pictures and on the days we used it we had a lot of fun. The kitchen was nicely stocked with basic spices, and provided ample space for cooking. Having laundry available was also a nice amenity! We would absolutely stay here again and look forward to returning someday!

40th Anniversary Trip

Thirteen of us gathered for a 6-night stay at this phenomenal property. The property grounds were gorgeous, the home was spacious and well equipped. The main kitchen had everything we needed to cook our meals. We loved having coffee out by the pool each morning and appreciated the fresh fruit brought over from the property manager. We were minutes from downtown Makawao and about a 20 minute drive to the local beaches. The bedrooms could use some heavier blankets and more towels but otherwise we were very happy with our stay.

Upcountry gem

Where else on Maui can you find a seven bedroom, seven bathroom private home that exists in a botanical garden? This place is an Upcountry Shangri-la, whether you’re working or playing. It mixes the utilitarian (see above about bedrooms/ bathrooms) with the Romantic: jaw dropping views, unforgettable sunrises and sunsets, and a view to the night sky that would make an early explorer just as relaxed. I’ll bet there are two dozen interesting trees on the property: an epic Banyan tree, an avocado tree, citrus trees, and many more of the flowering variety I couldn’t identify. There’s a beautiful pool and jacuzzi, and a set of common areas that make you want to hang out. I was part of a crew that was filming on Haleakala. We needed a place up the mountain that would make our daily commute manageable. I highly recommend.

Family Vacation Maui

We needed a place to stay in Maui that could accommodate our group of 16 people consisting of 6 separate family groups. We preferred to say near the center of Maui so we could make excursions to various attractions. Makawao was the perfect location for this and the Banyan Tree Bed and Breakfast exceeded our expectations. The individual suites are private and the main home living room, dining room and kitchen were large enough for our entire group to gather together. The pool is very large and was fantastic; our grandkids and family had a great time swimming. The lawn is large and was a great place for the grandkids to play. The grandkids also loved the ping pong table in the sunroom. The landscaping and views are spectacular. We could not be more pleased with this property and everyone had a great experience. We want to return there in the future.

Check in and communication were flawless. The property was better than expected. Plenty of room for our large family with gorgeous views, enormous pool and well supplied kitchen. The town nearby was perfect for coffee, bakery items and local shopping. Nothing was far away and we enjoyed snorkeling, zip lining, hiking, and beautiful sunsets. The chickens on property were a bonus. Local coffee shop and bakery were amazing. Every bedroom had a pod coffee machine but the only place we found to buy pods was Costco. They did have a drip coffee maker in the main kitchen. Laundry was $6 per load. We all agreed we would return to this same location in a heartbeat. Prayers for Maui.

Whether we wanted to explore the charming little cowboy town of Makawao, head to the beach, or take a scenic drive upcountry, it was all within reach.What truly made the experience stand out was how every single need was taken care of. We even had the pleasure of hosting a dinner for our group of 12, catered by the talented Chef Evan Presents. It was such a memorable evening, made possible by the thoughtful amenities and beautiful ambiance of the property.The pool was crystal clear, and the hot tub offered breathtaking sweeping views that were perfect for unwinding at the end of the day. Having a washer and dryer on-site was an added bonus, especially after long days of adventuring.I also appreciated the transparency—there were no hidden fees, just genuine hospitality. A huge thank-you to Helaina for making our stay so seamless and enjoyable. A perfect place to stay with oyr adult children and their friends, and my husbands parents. In the Heart of Nature

When our family of 12 arrived at the Banyan Tree House, we felt as if we were at the heart of nature. The property was breathtaking with all of the colorful trees and foliage. A cute little Rooster and hen were walking around the place with their feathered feet. They woke some of us each morning to start the day early doing yoga , walking and looking at the mountains and ocean in the distance. Our family had so many plans when we arrived here but our plans changed to staying here and enjoying all this place had to offer. There were fruits, vegetables and beautiful foliage on the property. All of this surrounded the big pool, hot tub and outside shower, as well as, the house and four cottages. We immediately began relaxing by the pool. Noone wanted to get groceries for the grill but two finally did There were two swings. One swing and lemon tree were hanging from the humongous Banyan tree. The house had a large dining room, den, and kitchen. The three bedrooms had two beds, a kitchenette and their own full bathroom. Each of the four cottages had a kitchenette, full bath, one to three beds and their own lanai. With the wind blowing and big windows open, we stayed cool and slept well in the comfy beds in the house and cottages. This place has us already talking about coming back to Maui and staying at the Banyan Tree House. It was exactly what we thought of when we thought of Maui with its mountains, waterfalls, and ocean. Nature at its finest!

50th anniversary family trip

This is a beautiful property that easily and comfortably accommodated our family of 12. The large main house was perfect for gathering, with a spacious living room and well stocked kitchen. The grounds were gorgeous where the little ones loved running and playing, and a large pool and hot tub were great for relaxing in the evenings. The owners were wonderfully kind and accommodating, making check-in and check-out smooth and stress free. This was the perfect place for our family vacation, and we would absolutely stay here again.
