Birger Jarl was quite nice. The breakfast was great. The staff was personable. The rooms seem small. Our superior king room was about the size of a standard room elsewhere. Overall seems good value for money considering its location in central Stockholm.

Research transport from city centre first - google/apple maps will recommend a tram then a bus (which took a while) - coming back we discovered a fast train which reaches Central in just 2 stops (FAR quicker!)
