In planning a much-needed long-weekend getaway, my husband and I happened upon this converted barn from its inviting photo of the soaring, warm-wood framed windows in the great room. Upon arrival, our accommodations did not disappoint. The photos are a very accurate reflection of this charming, quiet, secluded, clean, well-appointed rental property.
Its convenient location allows you to enjoy all that Manchester and the surrounding area has to offer. During our days, we had fun attending a class at Manchester Hot Glass and playing pinball games at Pastime Pinball; enjoyed a cappuccino from Bonnet & Main Café, while perusing all that the adjoining Northshire Bookstore has to offer, along with other local shops in the downtown area; appreciated the history and beauty of Hildene (The Lincoln Family Home); and had a delightful Sunday brunch at curATE Cafe, part of the Southern Vermont Art Center, after which appreciating the art exhibitions. We definitely would have hiked nearby trails and/or gone skiing if we were in better shape – ha, next time, for sure.
At night, we had delicious gourmet dinners at The Reluctant Panther, The Silver Fork and nearby Dorset Inn. Afterwards, we came back to the barn and played games (although some games and books are provided, we brought along cribbage and backgammon) and snuggled up on the coach to watch TV for a bit, before retiring to the incredibly comfortable king-size bed for a good night’s sleep.
All in all, we had a very relaxing and enjoyable time, and with so much left to do, we will definitely be back!
