Great location, directly in front of the main train station. It is also very quiet and safe. Management is very attentive, friendly, and professional. The room is very spacious. There is good size closet in the room. The room has a long couch. However, there is no accommodation to put away multiple luggages with only one luggage stand. Aside from this, the hotel is a good choice and a good experience.

The breakfast offered a good variety of choices, which we appreciated. However, there were a couple of disappointing aspects to our stay. The air freshener used in the main lobby was far too strong and overpowering. I also have concerns about the use of heavily fragranced products in public spaces. Unfortunately, the bed was not comfortable. The mattress sagged noticeably in the middle, making it difficult to get a good night’s sleep. Overall, while the breakfast was enjoyable, the overpowering lobby fragrance and uncomfortable mattress negatively affected our experience.

Over all the stay of 2n there were good, roomy & clean room with good view. Only not fully satisfied with the breakfast we paid for, no cover or heating container for hot dishes ie egg & pancake..so all food were cold, and has not much selection. The lady serving there was very nice that she made fresh scramble eggs for us. Specialty coffee are all u can drink.

I would have judged everything about this hotel as excellent, but for an incident shortly before I left. The hotel is in a superb location, easy to get to by car, and with good parking facilities close by. The staff are welcoming and very helpful. After checking out on my final day, I asked a member of staff for a coffee to go. She happily agreed, but when she brought it to me she apologized and told me I would have to pay since breakfast had ended at 10 am, and it was now 10.10 am. It became apparent that the man on the desk for breakfast had issued this order. He had been a looming and unwelcoming presence throughout, and would not budge when I complained to him. A little flexibility and common sense was called for. And so I left the hotel with my impressions marred by unnecessary rigidity.

We enjoyed our stay here. The room was clean and spacious. The staff was kind and very helpful. Onsite restaurant is good and loads of other restaurants are nearby. Location is next to the Mannheim HBF train station and local trains. Would recommend this hotel to others and stay again.

On the city's doorstep

A short walk to the city, the hotel was wonderful - the staff were a pleasure and all multi-lingual, the room was great and comfortable (and quiet)... but the best part was that it is barely a ten minute stroll into the city centre and the dining and shopping options that provides.

We liked the hotel and service. The rooms could have been cleaner, but they were comfortable. The location of the hotel is not great. There's not a ton to do directly around the neighborhood and going to Mannheim's city centre requires either a long walk, a car ride or some sort of public transit option that we did not explore.

Firstly, it could not have been easier to get to the hotel from the train. We had large suitcases and there were no stairs to negotiate and the entrance to the hotel was around 100 m from the station exit. The immediate surroundings were clean and quiet. The check-in process was very efficient and friendly. The room was spotless and looked brand new. It was a very typical room layout for Holiday Inn. The bathroom had a large walk-in shower, which provided lashings of hot water with good water pressure. The usual coffee, tea and bottled water were also available in the hotel. We were within easy walking distance of the Art Museum, Christmas Market and city shopping.

Extra charge for pre booked child bed

During a recent road trip round Germany we booked a few hotels via Hotels.com using exactly the same search criteria just changing the date and location, all the others were perfect and we had no complaints but upon arrival at the Holiday Inn Mannheim we were told there was no onsite parking which we had selected as part of our search on Hotels.com, which whilst annoying wouldn’t have made me write a negative review (which I have never done before) However when we got to our room, which we had booked for 2 adults and a 7 year old child, there was only a double bed and no extra bed for our daughter. So I went downstairs to reception and politely asked where the extra child bed was, only to be told by the least hotel receptionist that I would have to pay extra for a bed that I had already booked and paid for. I did explain this but there was no moving her and she told me that if we didn’t want to pay the extra money (which I didn’t out of principle) we should just all sleep in the same bed…. A double bed with two single duvets and a seven year old who spent most of the night sleeping across the bed. Needless to say we didn’t sleep much that night and we decided we would get away early. Which was quite lucky as we had a knock on the door at 8.45 from the cleaner the next morning to ask what time we were leaving (check out was midday). We loved Germany but definitely wouldn’t stay here.

I have traveled to more than 30 countries and five continents. This hotel will always be in my memories. I wanted to surprise my fiancé for her birthday during our trip. Although, the hotel did not have a package available. They offered to help create something for me. It was absolutely beautiful!! My fiancé walked in the room and wasn’t long before the tears of joy started. This is what I call extraordinary customer service! They went above and beyond to make our trip memorable. I wish I known the name of the female receptionist who checked me into my room and helped with the final touches. I would like to say a special, Thank you! ❤️
