Marine Parade Holidays

It is really hard for me to rate this one as it could have been a 5 stars everywhere if we didn’t check in to a room that had not been fully cleaned. The first person we had at reception upon check in insisted for us to pay to upgrade as we arrived at 7am which we didn’t want to know as we were more than happy to leave our bags and go explore, as it was our first time in Singapore, and come back at 3pm when our room would be ready. We got a phone call around 12pm to say our room was ready so we finished our tour of the museum and headed to the hotel where they had placed our luggage’s in our room but after looking carefully we found hair on the floor, stains on the sheets and marks inside the toilet bowl. Obviously went to ask to change room and a different person at the reception apologised, upgraded us and even showered us with gifts so we did end up having an agreeable stay in a lovely room but the whole situation left quite a negative mark unfortunately.

The outdoor pool isn’t large than I thought…and full of children…

For a family trip, the prime location, delicious breakfast, and clean rooms were impressive. The Marina Bay view was also excellent.

I would have loved to leave a 5 star review for this property however my whole check in experience was a nightmare. I was given a room that was on the same level as the lobby and the only window in the room was sitting behind a sitting area of the lobby so I did not want that room due to privacy issues. So I waited until they found me a different room. The next room was situated in a better spot and overlooked the lobby and atrium so I was fine. Until I realized that they gave me a room that was not cleaned after the previous guest had checked out. After calling them they were then in my room cleaning the room as I was trying to relax and wind down after a long journey. The bathroom was DIRTY and I mean the previous persons hair was all over it with paper stuck in the drain. The carpet had crumbs and very dirty from what you’d expect of a 5 star hotel. After cleaning I was finally left to relax only to find out then that the TV was not working as the connection had to be made to my phone to watch Netflix and the signal was going in and out so the engineer had to be called while I was eating in room dining to fix it. After 30 mins or so and my food gone cold he fixed it. I decided to go to sleep only to be woken up the next morning with a headache due to the fact that they were drilling on the other side of my wall and it continued for hours ! I requested a room change again and finally got it because of the noise that was going on. I lost a whole day of exploring due to this

The Shangri-La apartments was the perfect choice for our stay in Singapore. With a family of four adults, the 3-bedroom apartment had all the space and amenities we needed. The location was very quiet and rooms extremely comfortable. The rooms each had access to their own bathroom or ensuite, and each with their own water heating system. The kitchenette allowed us to have coffee, breakfast and snacks in our room which gave us a lot more flexibility for meals. We often used the apartment pool after a day of sight-seeing, which was very convenient as well as very private. We also made full use of the adjacent Shangri-La hotel amenities and sometimes chose to eat at one of the many restaurants and on occasion we ate breakfast in the buffet. The location of the Shangri-La apartments was very convenient with a 10-minute gentle sloping walk to the MRT and shopping. A free shuttle could also be used to get to the MRT for easy travelling between sight-seeing locations. All staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. We would highly recommend the Shangri-La apartments for short-term family stays and we would definitely come again if travelling to Singapore.
