Room was spacious, comfortable and clean. Hotel is reasonably modern and in good condition. Pool is very nice, gym is pretty small. Location is very convenient to Chinatown, restaurants and bars. Staff is overall friendly and helpful, except for one particular incident — we originally booked for 4 nights. We arrived to find Singapore covered in a blanket of smoke from fires in Indonesia. The air quality index was above 200 each day. We could not go out without an N95 mask. We decided to leave a day early and requested a refund for our final day. Under the circumstances, with two days’ advance notice, we think we should have been given at least a 50% refund. The request was denied. I understand it’s not the hotel’s fault there are fires burning, but it really was extremely difficult to be there. Given we had paid for three nights in full and gave advance notice, a hotel with better customer service would have honored the request.
