Cà FILETTO (Filetto, from the Greek/Byzantine “filakterion,” meaning “fortified place”) is part of a small group of houses nestled in the beautiful greenery of the Upper Mugello Valley, in the municipality of Marradi. Built along the ancient road connecting Florence to Faenza, known as the “Via Faentina,” it dates back to Roman times and was one of the ancient Apennine trade routes between the Po Valley and central Italy.<br><br>Immerse yourself in nature and tranquility and enjoy a more leisurely pace within the province of Florence, where your holiday will become a wonderful experience far from the chaotic stress of traffic.<br><br>If you love hiking, immerse yourself in the scents of the Tuscan Apennine forests, walking through centuries-old chestnut groves and discovering ancient parish churches and monasteries such as the Hermitage of Gamogna, the church of Lozzole, Trebbana with its famous oak tree, and the Acquacheta waterfall in the Casentino Forests National Park. We can provide an expert guide to accompany you (by reservation). <br><br>The Lamone is the river that originates in Crespino del Lamone, a small village southwest of Marradi. Its waters are crystal-clear and pristine. If you’d like to spend a peaceful afternoon lying on the warm rocks, lulled by the flow of the water, listening to the song of the cicadas, and watching the colourful dragonflies dance among the trees… this is the perfect spot!<br><br>The town of Marradi is 1.5 km from our apartments and offers residents and visitors the chance to buy fresh Tuscan bread, local pastries, and chestnut-based treats, which are the town’s speciality. <br><br>There are various activities available, such as horseback riding, a large public swimming pool and a children’s pool, tennis courts, bars, ice cream shops, pizzerias, and excellent restaurants. <br><br>The calendar of village festivals, the chestnut festival, and various cultural events related to the poet Dino Campana are listed on the tourism website of the Mugello Toscano Tourism Office and are easily accessible.<br><br>Florence, the city of art, is easily accessible by train, which departs directly from Marradi and arrives in the historic centre in 75 minutes. Ravenna, with its mosaics, and the Republic of San Marino (within Italy) are about an 80-minute drive away. Faenza, with its famous ceramics museum, is just 35 minutes from our location, passing through Brisighella, a wonderful medieval village only 20 minutes away by train or car.<br><br>Property details:<br><br>Upon entering the living area, you’ll immediately notice the centuries-old wooden beams, the carved pietra serena fireplace, and the splendid landscape visible through the large window. The colours chosen for the furnishings evoke shades of green and blue, giving the space a relaxing atmosphere that harmonises with the nature surrounding you.<br><br>The kitchen is fully equipped with modern appliances and everything you need to prepare breakfast, lunch, or dinner on the days you choose to stay in.<br><br>The apartment comfortably accommodates four people and features one bedroom with a four-poster double bed and another with two single beds.<br><br>The bathroom is spacious, bright, and equipped with modern fixtures (toilet, bidet, and a large shower).<br><br>*Pets are not allowed at No. 19<br><br>Please note: To reach apartments 19 and 21, there are stone stairs leading to the entrance of each apartment. Apartment 21 also features a loft in one of the bedrooms; to reach it, you must climb a steep set of wrought-iron stairs.<br><br>
