Karapiro Country Cottages - 3 in a country garden bordering a native reserve

There are three cottages and an outdoor kitchen/entertainment area near our character homestead on a family owned, picturesque farm in the heart of rural Karapiro. Each borders an expansive central country garden with Tui and other native birds, and spectacular rural views.

Karapiro Country Cottages are just minutes' drive from the river, cycle trails, nature walks and many of the area’s local attractions and event facilities.
From the moment our guests approach through the tree lined driveway, to when they sit on the deck of their private hilltop cottage overlooking our rolling farm fields, we make sure they feel our hearty welcome.

Our manicured lawns wrapped around a towering Copper Beech tree boast beautiful roses that smell like grandma’s used to, and a thriving country kitchen garden.

Each cottage opens onto the central gardens, making it ideal for groups to share the occasion from their private accommodation.

They all have access to the fully equipped outdoor kitchen, complete with BBQ and dishwasher, covered entertainment area and fire pit. Guests can self-cater with fresh vegetables from the garden and make an occasion of any meal in the outdoor kitchen, fully equipped for lavish entertaining.

We enjoy showing our guests the local scenery. You can chill out with the native birds and trees, or drink Champagne overlooking the countryside while the sun sets. Our DOC approved pest control programme ensures the neighboring private native reserve remains one of NZ's most spectacular.

Kids have lots to do with plenty of space to run around. And if they want to try gardening, we’d love to teach them the skills.

After years of extending country hospitality we’re experienced at event catering. Our venue is perfect for small functions.

The site is great, and the location is just as good. Karapiro Country Cottages are near all the major attractions and venues. We are literally minutes from the river, Horahora Domain and the Karapiro Rowing Club. The Karapiro section of Waikato Cycle Trail is just across the river and Hobbiton, Maungatautari Mountain, Tirau Village, many historic sites and the regions popular event venues are all close by. It’s only 20 minutes’ drive to Mystery Creek and the Avantidrome.

Karapiro Family Cottage .........
The largest of our cottages, the Family Cottage is open plan with a kitchenette and dining area, a cosy lounge with flat screen TV, DVD’s and free wifi. There are three beds , room for a rollaway, and a modern bathroom - Sleeps 5. It’s perfect for a whole family to do their own thing in all weather. Karapiro Family Cottage is attached to the old homestead but completely private. (NB: there is an internal door that allows access from the homestead but this is always locked to maintain complete guest privacy)

From a private deck you have views across the farm, and through every window you see mature trees and the manicured country gardens.

Tui Cottage ..........
A studio style cottage with double and single bed to sleep 3, the Tui Cottage has a newly renovated ensuite bathroom, TV, Fridge and tea/coffee making facilities. It’s ideal for those who appreciate luxury and don’t need a lot of space.

Fantail Cottage …….
A studio style cottage with queen bed - sleeps 2, the Tui Cottage has a newly renovated ensuite bathroom, TV, fridge and tea/coffee making facilities. It’s ideal for couples to enjoy the serenity of the Karapiro’s unique setting in luxury.

NB: Tui and Fantail Cottages are side by side in one building and right beside the outdoor kitchen.

Would stay again!

Very good value - everything was clean and tidy, nice garden for kids to play in, outdoor kitchen/bar area to socialize in the warmer months. Great communication from hosts. Would both recommend and stay again.

Dog Friendly, hospitable owners

Kia ora, great find throughout from meeting place for our family from various parts of the North Island. As we needed to accommodate Bronson-dog. Rosemary and Anne Marie were very helpful, highly recommended. We did last minute shopping at Cambridge and wasn't let down! Feeding the chickens, vege garden, taking roses home, thank you so much. All the best.

Lazy weekend away with the girls

Just wow. Such a lovely experience . The accommodation was spotless, we did not need for anything. Kindling and wood was set up for the outside fire . Breakfast spreads were made from produce of the garden. The grounds are exquisite and the history of the area very interesting. We indulged ourselves on the Saturday evening with Roast trimmings and Dessert. A real kiwi family sit down evening with the ladies of the house. We ventured into Cambridge for lunch and a mooch around the local shops and 2nd handshops. Highly recommended area to visit.

Extremely pleasant stay

From booking to arriving - excellent communication all the way through. Our engagement with the host was exceptional, the standard of the rooms was very high. Very clean throughout. Linen, towels, kitchenware, all very clean and tidy. The place itself has a wonderful vegetable garden. We were a combination of 4 families with young children. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the accomodation and interaction with hosts. Loved it!
