Gaston Fébus was an important 14th century count and viscount. He initially constructed the castle in 1380. Due to gradual disuse, the castle fell apart and its pieces sold off. The Mauvezin Château is a little northwest of the heart of the village of Mauvezin, in southwestern France. Drive east from Lourdes for 22 miles (35 kilometers) to get here in about 40 minutes. You can leave your car in the free parking lot. See some of the nearby landmarks, including L’Arros River, the Escaladieu Abbey and the Ribière Water Mill.
