Mayagüez is the third-largest city in Puerto Rico. It packs in several attractions for anyone visiting the island’s western coast. See shows in charming theaters, relax in European-style plazas and wander around American-influenced malls in a welcoming city with an international feel.
Marvel at the city’s remarkable recovery. Most of Mayagüez was destroyed in an earthquake in 1918, so the city stands today as a relatively modern development, emerging from that disaster.
Relax in Plaza de ColonOpens in a new window for a sense of the city’s atmosphere and charm. This social hub features the Christopher Columbus Statue that commemorates the explorer’s arrival to western Puerto Rico.

Many of the attractions in the city are close together and can be visited while walking around the center.
