"First of all, a very charming and welcoming hotel, excellent location, awesome staff, do not hesitate to book for a downtown visit to this city. We booked a Sunday night and Monday night, because of a low rate,mostly. Charlie's lounge is closed Sunday, and a lot of businesses are shut down Mondays. We will stay mid week on our next visit, appreciated the bathtub, nice bathroom, the superior room seemed a bit small to me, although c'est la vie, en France. Wonderful surprise for a brief getaway, especially if you appreciate the beautiful art deco design of this building, and hotel. Cannot rate breakfast, for we only go for espresso and croissant now, trying to be less americaine and more french, since we live in Alsace region now. Don't hesitate to book this fine establishment. Cheers."

"Very close to SBB - public transport. If you like the zoo it’s very close. We received a tourist card so public transportation was free and a lot of tourist attractions had great discounts. Would stay there again."

"Checkin was a disaster compounded by unnecessary surliness and incompetence. They demand a 24 hour pre check in online and I did that noting that I would stop by at 1 pm to drop bags and avail myself of their luggage storage option. I received an email back thanking me for pre-check in. I showed up at 3 pm and there was a family from Montreal also looking to check in early. The phone didn’t pick up then a random guy came and accosted us for being early and I explained I spelled it out in the pre check in. He said to give him 5 minutes. That turned into fifteen minutes and then some other guy showed up and accosted us again and shut the door and left us out on the street in the hot weather. I found his language to be rude and abrasive as did the Montreal family. Finally some hotel guests took pity on us and let us in and showed us where the luggage storage was and we went to get some water nearby (why that was so difficult for the hotel staff Ill never know). I don’t know why they bother with the pre-registration kabuki. Then my room didn’t have a frying pan but there was a whisk and a spatula. After three days I gave up asking. It’s unfortunate because it’s a nicely renovated old building in a convenient spot though it was interesting that they have a placard at the front desk advising guests not to argue with staff so somehow the surliness is built into the hospitality illusion they offer. It was like a surly Fawlty Towers Totally uncalled for. C’est dommage."
