The lobby area looked/smelled clean. That's how they get you. The breakfast/coffee area was always empty. The hotel doesn't offer free breakfast so it didn't matter. Our 2nd room (yes #2) did not appear to have been cleaned between guests. Everything was so dirty: the baseboards-yuck, all the doors-more yuck. The bedroom, alcove, bathroom and sink area walls all had feces looking materials on them especially around the toilet and where the towels hung. Gross!! The toilet was broken under the lid and black with mold. The shower stall, sink area and front door mouldings were cracked and inside the cracks was moldy. The sheets were dirty w/yellow stains, hair & had what looked like floor dirt. The carpet was also very dirty. I spoke with the front desk manager about everything. He asked if I made a report to the front desk to give housekeeping A CHANCE TO MAKE IT RIGHT. My response was that new guests have an expectation that housekeeping takes the opportunity to get it right BEFORE I or any other guest check in. Guests should NOT have to ask anyone to GET IT RIGHT after they check in!! Still he wanted to argue that it was too MY responsibility to see that the work was done correctly AFTER I checked in. He had no real concern about my experience. Although he did offer me a 10% discount for my troubles ($17.90) why, though, if he didn't feel that the hotel was culpable for any wrong doing? We will not book with another Marriott nor embrace another Bonvoy experience.

My main complaint this visit, is simply that I arrived early (around noon) and tried to check in. A room wouldn't be available for an hour I was told. Fine. I waited an hour and was then told it would be an extra $25 to take the room before 2:00 p.m. I've never heard of such a practice from any other hotel. If a room is ready, regardless of the official 3 pm check-in time, I've never been charged extra for checking in "early." I declined the $25 up-charge and had to wait until after 2:00 to check in. Just didn't seem very customer-friendly, And this up-charging needs to be communicated better for all reservations. Everything else was great; cleanliness, service other than check-in, big room, great value etc.

Penny took good care of us. We had a problem in the middle of the night with a toilet that would not quit running. Things happen. Moving to another room at 1:30AM is not a pleasant experience. Next morning Penny bought us coffee at Starbuck's and made sure we were taken care of. didn't push for a refund but probably could have gotten a partial. We will keep this property on our list of places to stay in Myrtle Beach.

Room had musky, sweaty smell, sheets and beding had hairs still on them. The fridge didn't work and we had to get that fixed. The bathroom vent was making a loud sound almost as if the fan inside was hitting something metalic. Only plus side was breakfast purchase option was worth it and i would like to give my complement to the chef who cooked the breakfast on that day.
