"Great value for money. 3 rooms on 2nd floor and 1st floor is common area with toliet, shower, kitchen, refrigerator.
Traditional Japanese style room. Room is simple with matress, small ground table, A/C. Not much soundproof.
No elevator & need to use stiff stairs. Host seems living in 1st floor. Use key to open/close room.
Place is located on the side of small car road, not inside. Search '清舎' on google map."

"We had a lovely time here! We were travelling by public transport, and this spot is a little of out of the way, but they sent a shuttle to the train station and it was easy to arrive. It was not clear from their website that the restaurant would not be open for dinner, and the closest restaurant by foot (other than McDonald's) was a 30 minute walk away. That was no problem; we had a nice walk, a great dinner, and really loved the onsen!"

"The place was nice, but the stools in the bathrooms were so dirty and disgusting. The staff was helpful and very nice. The room the nice but not storage and no bathroom door. Not place to store suitcases. No hooks to hang our towels. I would stay here again, but that’s after looking at some place better first."
"This was my first trip to Kyoto with my family (4 adults). We wanted a hotel that was close to Kyoto Station and JR WEST GROUP VIA INN PRIME KYOTOEKI HACHIJOGUCHI was the perfect place. This location provided us with a wide selection of restaurants and shops. There is also a large shopping mall located at the Kyoto Station and another shopping mall just a few blocks away. There was also a 7-11 located next door which guests have access through the hotel lobby. So convenient!
We reserved two rooms, hoping that our rooms would be fairly close to each other. Thankfully, the rooms were on the same floor, but at different ends of the hallway. The rooms were comfortable and clean, with a small refrigerator and large shower. However, counter space in the bathrooms were limited. We were able to get many of the toiletries in the lobby, such as toothbrushes, body lotion, facial masks, etc, which was very nice. We enjoyed the fresh towels that were delivered to our door each day, even though we did not need housekeeping service. The staff is very nice and helpful, however check-in was a bit confusing. Although we had a reservation for two rooms, we had to check in to each room separately via a kiosk, even though the rooms were under the same name. Check out had the same procedure. The staff was available to help, however it would have been nice to have the staff check us in and out at the front desk. Overall, Via Inn was a very nice and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay."
"Water pressure was horribly aggressive. Somehow too much??? Never thought I’d say that. And the hot water in the sink was dangerously hot, even when not turned up all the way. The bed sheets were quite rough, but they did have the cool Japanese pillows! Black out curtains were more effective than most. Unfortunately, one morning when I was trying to forward my luggage, the front desk staff did not seem fully familiar with the process and I ended up missing my train due to her completing wrong ppw first (to airport instead of hotel) and I had to pay 5000 yen for a taxi to catch my Shinkansen"
"Location is in the heart of where all the action is. As soon as you step out the door, there are businesses and people everywhere. Stayed in a triple and there were areas to put luggage so you aren’t overly crowded. Bathroom was a good size."
"Clean room, there's bathtub. Room was pretty small for 3 pax. Need to play a little bit of tetris when opening luggage. I think 2 pax is fine, but for 3 is quite small.
There's small small onsen in the hotel - free for guests. Convenience store is just right outside the hotel. About 10 mins walking distance to LUCUA100 and the nearest train station.
Side note: No complimentary meals of sorts. "
