"Great room overlooking the Midway aircraft carrier. Great location and friendly staff. Clean and well appointed room. If there was 1 downside it was the surprise charge for early check-in, even as an IHG member. Weeks before arriving, I exchanged several emails with the front desk manager, during which I explained we would arrive early and would like to check-in early. She told me she made of an “early check-in request” note on our reservation but not once during our email exchanges was I informed of an early check-in charge. Good customer service requires that you set expectations appropriately. Had we been informed of this charge, we would have expected it and made other arrangements to stay on our cruise ship until later in the day. If the room is available, the goodwill of allowing an early check-in goes a long way with customer loyalty. "
