Check-in was smooth and the location is convenient, but my main issue was the overall condition of the property. The photos online don’t reflect the current state very accurately. During my stay there was construction work underway, including installation of a second lift, which made the shared areas dusty and the environment noticeably noisy. The restaurant also felt quite dated and looked neglected. The room itself also needed attention. The general upkeep felt tired and outdated, with paint marks, visible nails left in the walls where pictures were missing, and water stains on the walls. Even small details were overlooked—there were empty information folders with no useful content, and the telephone in the room wasn’t working. While it’s not directly the hotel’s fault, the adjoining premises appeared abandoned, and the pool there had stagnant water and a strong, unpleasant smell. Unfortunately, the odor made it uncomfortable to stay in the room at times, and the view of the pool with putrid water was very unpleasant. On the positive side, the staff were friendly and helpful, and dinner was ok.

excellent hotel

I arrived and was greeted with a a free drink then taken to my room which was extremely clean and spacious and had a view to die for. hotel staff are friendly and will do anything to help. the hotel is on the beach has a good pool also. well worth a stay

Underbsrt med jazzuci och fin utsikt bodde högst upp. Nära strand, butik och pool. Rent och fräscht. Jobbiga säljare och de flesta pratade svebska, jobbiga, gav sig knappt.sa attvi hade ju dollar, euro ovh bra i Sverige , så vi kunde gott betala extra dyrt till dom, angående resor mm.

Ett mycket märkligt ställe med förvirrad personal. Av någon anledning blev vi felaktigt uppgraderade, fick byta rum efter ett dygn vilket innebar att vi fick lägga en timme packa ihop och packa upp igen, ingen ursäkt från personalen utan snarare än attityd att det var vi som hade orsakat felet. Rummen är ljusa och fräscha, vilket inte kan sägas om restaurangen på plan sju som är ofräsch och sunkig. Baren med poolen på bottenplanet är betydligt trevligare, till detta har man en anslutning till stranden och fria vilstolar.

Beacon beach resort is very clean, rooms cleaned everyday, restaurant spotless and good food . The staff was so helpful .Its on the beach, town is about five mins in tuk tuk cheap . would book to stay their again

Value for money hotel

The beacon beach hotel is on the beach so you walk pass the pool and your on the beach. The room was clean every day . Staff always on hand to help . The breakfast was value for money . You can get a tuk tuk into negombo town centre for about two pounds its cheap to eat out and very good.i would go back again

This a great property right on the beach & not far from the airport so perfect for us after our delayed flight arrival at 1am. The beach is quite strewn with rubbish so probably not a great spot for a long stay but the hotel pool & surrounds are very pleasant and the breakfast area on the top floor has magnificent views. The sheets & towels are a bit old & rooms probably need a bit of refreshing but this is by no means a 5 star hotel, So overall very good value for money.

We arrived straight from the airport at around 3.30am the hotel was in darkness and completely closed. The street also in complete darkness, no cars, people but lots of dogs everywhere, we love dogs but felt very uncomfortable and not safe. We shouted hello numerous times to see if security or someone was around. We also tried to call but call wasn’t going through. We actually thought we’d been scammed! We waited around for over an hour looking for transport and alternative accommodation. We made one final attempt to get a response by shouting very loudly through a gap in the doorway and finally lights went on and a porter opened the doors, a member of staff eventually came down from bed to check us in, this took around 30 mins and we finally made it to our rooms. The following morning the key snapped in the lock and we left it with reception on return to the hotel no one knew anything about our key and there didn’t appear to be any comms between staff and we spent a further 30 mins waiting to get in our room! You can walk into the beach from the rear of the hotel, we liked listening to the waves but the beach is very dirty full of plastic that has been swept into little pile but then left there! We wouldn’t stay here again.

Paluumatkan lähestyessä vietimme 2.5yötä tässä hotellissa, koska lentomme lähti 3.15 aamulla ja lentokenttä oli lähellä n.30min riippuen liikenteestä. Tilasimme tästä hotellista lentokenttäkuljetuksen, joka olisi kustantanut n.60$. Lentomme oli hieman myöhässä, joten meitä ei odottanutkaan kukaan kentällä. Saimme apua ja otimme taksin. Suosittelen ottamaan taksin, joita kentältä ulos saapuessa on pilvin pimein ja sopimaan hinnan etukäteen. Se on edullisempi kuin hotellien lentokenttäkuljetukset. Kannattaa laittaa hotellin tarkka osoite ja puhelinnumero ylös ja myös reittiohje hyvä ladata googlemapsiin valmiiksi. Kaikki kuskit eivät tiedä tarkkaan missä mikäkin hotelli sijaitsee. Tässä hotellissa meri oli lähellä ja mikäli et mereen uskaltaudu voi altaassa vilvoitella. Ravintola altaalla, josta voi tilata viileitä juomia ja ruokaa rannalle. Ensimmäisenä aamuna aamupala tarjoiltiin listalta. Tuntui hieman köykäiseltä, koska oletettiin sen olevan buffet aamiainen. Toisena aamuna meidät ohjattiinkin 7 kerroksen ravintolaan, jossa olikin tämä buffet aamiainen. Hyvä ja runsas valikoima aamupalassa. Mietimme, että olisikohan myös ensimmäisenä aamuna ollut buffet aamiainen ylimmässä kerroksessa. Ruoka oli hyvää. Palvelu oli erinomaista sekä sujuvaa ja sisäänkirjautuminenkin meni hyvin. Rakennus hieman vanha ja se näkyi pinnoissa ym. Kalasatama hotellimme lähellä rannalla häiritsi hiukan. Rannalla oli jonkin verran roskaa. Kaupustelijoita oli liikkeellä täällä päin.

Well run and very welcoming hotel. Staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. On quieter end of beach and close to lots of very good restaurants. Would certain!y return and have no problem recommending. Rooms are perfectly nice with AC, tv and tea/coffee facilities and wifi. Bathrooms are modern and toiletries are provided. Request seaview room and if a priority, rooms above 3rd floor will give best views as palm trees restrict the view a little bit.

Xmas relaxation

Reception, room and breakfast service excellent. Poolside service good. Breakfast food good and plenty of choice. Location so convenient for beach and local restaurants and bars. Sea view room superb. Room size, comfort and room facilitiez excellent. Maintenance service for a couple of minor issues on arrival superb. All round I would stay again and recommend without hesitation.

Okay stay for discounted price

Very nice and clean rooms but we booked sea view and on the second floor only saw palm trees. The deck chairs at the beach are old and some are rusty and falling apart. Pillows are too thin to be comfortable. Breakfast was really good and served fast. When we were there the owner of the hotel celebrated her birthday with 100 people at the beach, so the beach area was pretty much closed during the afternoon of preparations and it was difficult to sleep because of the music until 2am. As such this would not have been a problem but there was no proper information for the hotel guests and no compensation for the lack of comfort and sleep before and during the party.
