A Beautiful Jewel Box... This House Is Painted Black !

Come chill in the sitting pool!! This private house has one private bedroom and a living room. There is a nice size kitchen , with a cozy gas fireplace. the living room has a couch but it is not a fold-out. The bedroom opens on to a gorgeous courtyard with a sitting pool. All new renovation , but old world charm remains. It is in a great location .. Within walking distance to the Marigny, Bywater and the French Quarter. There are a variety of bars, restaurants and coffee shops near by. Best of all, the St. Roch Market is just steps away!

Loved this place! The owner was very attentive and super helpful when our travel plans were disrupted by bad weather. The house was neat and comfortable. We loved staying here and would definitely come back again.

Great location!

This location was very convenient for us with places like St. Roch Market, Honey’s and the Food Co-Op within easy walking distance. The only downside for us was crowd noise from the St. Roch Tavern, which kept us up at night a bit later than we would have preferred.

Very convenient

We were close enough to the French quarter to easily walk everywhere yet far enough to get a comfy and quiet sleep! Plus grocery store around the corner! Awesome stay!

Great place to stay! Not the greatest neighborhood but I don't come to new Orleans for quite - lol - everything was well planned, well prepared and clean.

A week in NOLA

Good communication from Tom, check-in and check-out were easy. Definitely got the feel of authentic New Orleans. Wouldn't stay here again but overall a good trip.

Great property in a convenient location

Perfect for a weekend getaway for 2! Easy walking distance to everything & convenient to restaurants, coffee, etc. vibrant neighborhood. I really enjoyed the garden common area! Will be back!

Beautiful and quirky

This home was the best part of our stay in New Orleans! It was comfortable and cute, and the neighbor hood and shops were our favorites. We loved sitting in the courtyard and relaxing. Roch market was our favorite, and the salty pearl was our favorite dining experience! We got oysters and the seafood gumbo and both were phenomenal. The bloody Mary from the bar next to the oyster place was the best I've ever had. We also loved viewing the art at the spiritual center across the street. Beautiful, amazing, and inspirational!

Local feel of New Orleans

Perfect location for a calm and relaxing stay. Our host was available and informative, the home was clean and homey. Felt like living the real NOLA life. Food, fun and finds nearby. 10/10 stay!

Black house

Cute little cottage close to great food at St. Roche Market & City Market. Close to blue bike station. Bus stop (1.25 blocks) & Streetcar (4 blocks) are close. Place needs a deep cleaning, but general areas are clean & linens were clean & it was fine for me. Would stay here again. ay here again.

Cute house but needs love

Tom was great as a host. House needs some love & a good cleaning. It had what we needed and a great location. Parking was easy. We felt safe. But the house is definitely old and smells that way. Could be amazing with some elbow grease and updating.

Comfy New Orleans style home

This was my second time staying at this property. It is clean, comfortable and well equipped. This is not your sterile bland new hotel style home. There is a beautiful courtyard full of tropical plants and 2 fountains. I came to escape winter in iowa, and brought my bike to get some exercise. The owners kindly let me keep it in a little shed. The house is an easy walk to spotted cat jazz bar, a great food market and right next door to Roch market,, with many dining options. Tom immediately helps out if something is missing or doesn’t work. Last time my husband was with me. This time I stayed by myself and felt perfectly comfortable walking around the neighborhood

Small black house in interesting neighborhood

House was interesting and convenient to local sights. Its very near the Roch Market, which is like the french market downtown with local vendors of all different types cuisines to try. It was an easy walk to the spotted cat jazz bar ( about 0.5 miles) and around the corner from bus stops. There is a great food store 0.3 miles walk. The owners were very helpful with any problems we had, and went overboard to help us. Unfortunately the gas fireplace was not working while we were there, which would have made the place even cheerier, since we managed to be in New Orleans for a big freeze. The towels were insanely luxurious. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Cute little black house w/rose colored door

It is just as pictured and described! Perfect spot right outside the French Quarter. We had food, coffee, pharmacy, and bars within walking distance. Tom and Ann were very reponsive to our messages. Tom met us outside the house and showed us around. He also worked with our early arrival and later departure. We had beer and root beer and Zapps chips waiting on us. Coffee and tea are provided. Cable TV. Heaters for cold weather. Comfy matress for our fussy backs. We could walk to the French Qtr in 20 minutes. Quieter neighborhood with typical city noises like sirens and garbage pickup. Loved it! Recommend you trying them out!

Lil' house in nawlins

I'm really just reviewing in rebuttal to some of the reviews on here... first off- no bugs! Second the place was not dirty! Third the owners were not intrusive at all, if i didn't go over and introduce myself.. i would have never seen them and the neighborhood wasn't bad! Close to the busline and cheap lyft or uber to wherever you want to go... pretty much in the center of everything. The house is old.. classic new orleans style complete with 15 foot ceilings. Stone/ real wood flooring. Fireplace. Kitchen with everything you may need and a really nice deep bathtub. There was a beautiful little garden area with a little sitting pool that we enjoyed after being out in the blazing heat down there... i agree that the outside furniture was not usable but we didn't need it. That would have been a bonus. It was cozy and comfortable and felt like home. Thank you to ann and tom for a wonderful vacation! ( i guess some folks are just way more bougie than us)

Mixed review

We had a 4 day stay starting last Thursday ending on Monday. Upon arrival we were indeed greeted by the ower who showed us around the house and garden area. When we first walked in we felt it was quaint and pleasant. Once we unpacked and settled in, we began to notice deficiencies. Although the description of the property says renovated, this must have been done many many years ago. The baseboards and wainscotting borders were black with dirt/dust. The taps in both the kitchen and bathrooms were so well worn you could turn them on and off in both directions. The furniture was well past its good for use date. The chairs and couch were very uncomfortable and well well worn out. The doors all had black streaks from many many fingerprints. The bathroom walls had water stains coming down from all walls as well as the shower walls. These items are so easily repaired/remedied and would make the house so so much more comfortable. The neighbourhood was convenient and close to everything one needs/wants. The bar on the corner is very loud on Friday and Saturday nights, but that is to be expected. The hosts were quick to reply to any e-mail we sent and we really didn't see them for the most part. The courtyard was not usable for our stay as it was a bit chilly, which is too bad. We are hopeful that our suggestions are taken as constructive points only. Thank you.

Cute place, great location, excellent host!

The check in was easy and were able to get in early since it was vacant the night before. The location was quiet and convenient to get around. Definitely would stay there again!

Located in a rich cultural part of the city. Everything in walking distance. Our stay was cozy and loved the patio and boutique pool to relax. Great communication from owner Tom and very accommodating and facilitated our late arrival. Local beers and chips were so welcoming.

Great Spot for Walking into the Quarter

We enjoyed our stay here and easily walked to and from the French Quarter during our stay! The AC is two window units that are probably nearing the end of their lives but this wasn't a big deal. The pool is awesome and great for relaxing after your day out exploring. Hosts are awesome and answered any and all questions we had!
