The Space:
Nestled within the historic embrace of New Orleans' Central Business District, The Picayune stands as a living testament to the city's rich history, with roots that delve deep into the realm of journalism. Originally home to the historic newspaper, The Times-Picayune, this renovated building boasts a connection to the bustling atmosphere of Newspaper Row, a designation used to describe this block of Camp Street.

Newspaper Row, was a vibrant stretch of Camp Street, and was once the epicenter of the city's journalistic endeavors. The Daily Picayune was a prominent player in this dynamic landscape, and its former headquarters in this building have been carefully transformed into the modern incarnation that is The Picayune today.
Stepping into The Picayune is like stepping into a living history book. The building pays homage to its journalistic legacy, with several framed restored prints of original newspapers, dating back to 1890, throughout the building and condo for your enjoyment. It serves as a bridge between the past and the present, where the echoes of historic headlines and the hum of a bustling newsroom can almost be heard through the decades.

The guest bedroom, hosting a king bed, is equally inviting, with a cleverly designed hallway bathroom that transforms into a private oasis when the door is closed. This clever configuration adds a touch of versatility to the space.

The condo's meticulous design extends beyond the bedrooms. The open living space and high ceilings contributes to the overall sense of airiness, while original brick accents provide a nod to the building's historical charm. Step out onto the large balcony to soak in the vibrant energy of the city below. Modern amenities, including stainless appliances and Roku-equipped TVs, seamlessly blend with the historic touches, creating a distinctive and comfortable atmosphere.

Within this district lies a gem of historical significance. The Picayune is a meticulously renovated building that stands as a testament to New Orleans' rich past. This landmark, steeped in history, has been carefully preserved and adapted to meet the demands of the present day. Its restoration retains the allure of a bygone era while offering contemporary amenities for a truly unique experience.

Getting Around:
Walking is the best way to get around in the downtown New Orleans area and when you get tired, rideshare (Uber/Lift/KrewCar) and taxis are generally readily available. The St. Charles Ave. streetcars are Green and head away from downtown on St. Charles Ave, into the Garden District, where you will see the beautifully maintained mansions, passing Loyola and Tulane Universities, Audubon Park, and the Audubon Zoo. Red Streetcars travel along Canal Blvd. from the Mississippi River out to City Park. The streetcars are cash only, unless you buy a pass.

The Hop on Hop off tour buses circulate around some of the more popular areas of downtown and offer pickup every 30 minutes.

The Algiers Ferry is a fun way to get across the river. It runs from Canal Street to Algiers throughout the day. Algiers is small and very walkable. Enjoy a quick bite to eat or just enjoy walking through the historic houses.

Loved it…

The space was amazing, centrally located to all the things we were looking to do, and realizing the decor was really telling the history of the building was intriguing to learn…have already talked about staying here again on a future trip to the area.

The best of the best

If you want an oasis in the bustle of NOLA - this is it! Conveniently located, clean, modern, spacious, QUIET! Super accessible for my 90 year old mother. I have stayed at a number of hotels on Canal Street and will NEVER stay at them again knowing that this gem is just 2 blocks away.

Great stay at Front Page News

We had a delightful 4-day stay in Front Page News. The condo is spacious and beautifully decorated, well-suited for two couples, and had everything we needed. The location is perfect for walking to the French Quarter or catching a trolley on Canal Street and we never needed our cars. Barbara made the booking process easy, including adding a day to our original stay, and ensured we had all the information we needed. We would love to stay there again.

Good location, clean unit

We had a great stay here, we were within walking distance to most everything we wanted to do and public transport for all other activities. The unit is quiet and the bedrooms are dark. The guest bedroom had an attatched bathroom that is also accessible to the hallway, we had 2 couples staying together and it was perfect for the 4 of us. Would rent again from vacayNOLA

First visit to New Orleans and had a great trip and was very impressed with the host and communication from the moment we booked until the moment we left. The condo is absolutely gorgeous and is in a great location. The patio is a huge plus and was used every day. It is in a great location just south of the French Quarter and everything we needed to do was within a 10 minute walk. would highly recommend and come back again

Great Location, Balcony

We’ve been to NOLA many times, lived here for a while in ‘98/‘99 and had an apartment in the Warehouse district. We’ve stayed all over, up off St. Charles, down in the Quarter and in the Garden district. This was the most convenient location and has a great balcony for enjoying that 3-6pm ‘down’ time you need in NOLA to recharge your batteries. The condo was clean and comfortable, access was secure and so many places within a 2-3 block radius that are worth checking out! Well definitely consider this location for our next NOLA trip!

Great spot to explore New Orleans

Great location. Everything was clean and the condo had the necessary amenities. I heard zero noise from anyone else in the building, and the bedrooms remain completely dark until you are ready to turn on the lights in the morning. The balcony was very nice, although there is a low windowsill that you have to step over to get onto it (this looks to be common in this city). Overall we loved the property and will definitely stay here again when we return to New Orleans.

French Quarter adjacent - Perfect location

Great location for being able to experience the French quarter without having to stay in the French Quarter. It takes about 5 minutes on foot to be in the thick of things. I highly recommend parking in the parking garage across the street and just paying the daily rate for the entirety of the stay. It’s actually pretty convenient as far as parking goes, the only thing is it does get a little pricey. All in all, it was a great stay. Very clean and spacious. Barbara was very responsive and gave us some good tips. We would definitely stay here again.
