Beautiful spot!
We had a great time staying at the cottage. Inez was super welcoming and flexible with our late arrival time. Th property was stunning and within easy driving distance to several great hiking trails and downtown Ithaca. We especially loved our welcome crew Floyd and Sadie!

Our stay at the Mallard Cottage
Beautiful. cozy, clean, relaxing Cottage. The cottage location was close to everything on our agenda. Tom, Inez, and their beautiful dogs Sally and Floyd were wonderful hostees. My daughter had an amazing time. Thank you, Tom and Inez we will see you soon.

Seriously, Dog Friendly
If you are looking for a place to bring your dogs, this is truly dog friendly. Comfortable and adorable accommodations. You will find everything you need for a comfortable stay. A beautiful deck to enjoy and the scenery is plentiful. The owners are so accommodating and their dogs will be waiting for your arrival. We cannot wait to return in the summer months.

Beautiful Cottage located near Ithaca and Cayuga wine trail
We had a wonderful stay at Inez and Tom's! They were very responsive and friendly, and the cottage was beautiful and clean. The coffee and hot chocolate was much appreciated. Their property hosts beautiful gardens and has been certified as a monarch butterfly sanctuary. If you are a dog lover, you will enjoy Sally and Floyd greeting you every morning. The property is about a 15 minute drive to downtown Ithaca and about 30 minutes to many cayuga wineries (sheldrake, hosmer, lucas, etc.). It's also right around the corner from Treman state park. We will definitely be back!

Peaceful and quiet
We very much enjoyed our stay at Mallard Cottage. Inez and Tom are very welcoming as are their two dogs. It’s a quiet country retreat but is close to Wegman’s and several restaurants as well as Buttermilk Falls and Treman State Park. Our dog loved the time he spent at the cottage and definitely gives it a 5 dog bone rating!

Just what we were looking for!
We really needed to get away from our lives for a couple days (Wife, kids and pup). Knowing that we wanted to visit Watkins Glen, we found this nice little cottage about 30 minutes away. The best surprise of all was the Robert H Treman State Park. We actually enjoyed it way more than Watkins Glen and it is literally 5 minutes from the cottage. We were late for check in and the owners were still very accommodating and kind. Would recommend to all!!

Peaceful Stay
We wanted to stay somewhere central to Watkins Glen, Robert H. Treman State Park and Ithaca for a weekend away. This location was perfect for that. The cottage is comfortable and our stay was pleasant and relaxing. I enjoyed sitting on the deck in the morning, watching the sun rise, while I was visited by Sally and Floyd- the friendly dogs that live on the property. Inez was very knowledgeable about the area and she was also approachable and kind. We will definitely stay here again.

Hidden away yet close to alternative Treman trailhead Tiny but efficient My Cornell daughter and I stayed here while my friends were nearby in alternative property Inez made a point of meeting us (she has bed and breakfast next door) and showing us around the cottage Dogs are friendly and a fun addition My daughter and I were on foot waiting for my friends the next morning and were hungry and realized there was only one option within several miles ; stone farms and brewery about 0.7 mI up the road We contemplated asking Inez about any bed and breakfast food that might be available but it was an odd time at this point so didn’t want to impose I had originally booked this place for travel w a friend and his dog ; when the dog became terminally ill, and we could not travel, Inez was accommodating and allowed me to change the reservation to several months later (this trip) we made the most of our stay despite the change in circumstances and appreciate her flexibility She gave us good recommendations on wineries and local farm to table restaurants as well

Great home base for hiking waterfalls!
We were blessed to be able to spend a week at this great cottage! Although the rain kept us from enjoying the large deck as much as we would have liked, it was a great place with a beautiful view to enjoy morning coffee. On mornings when we couldn't sit out there, we were able to enjoy the view from the double glass doors in the living area. The cottage is very thoughtfully laid out. There is ample space to unpack all of your things. The bed was super comfortable, and we even inquired about the mattress. We did not do a lot of cooking, but there was ample cookware and utensils for our use. We had our little dog with us, and she enjoyed running the back meadows. It was nice to be somewhere where dogs are not just allowed, but actually welcomed. The location was close to several parks with waterfalls, and an easy drive into Ithaca. Inez and Tom are great hosts and have a lot of knowledge of the area. They clearly want you to enjoy your stay! We would highly recommend this cottage!

Perfect getaway for 2!
We stayed 3 nights on our Finger Lakes area vacation. Mallard Cottage is located in the country about 20 minutes southwest of Ithaca near Robert H Treman State Park & an easy drive to the Watkin Glens area on Seneca Lake or super close to Cayuga Lake. The cottage is a perfect get away for 2 & offers a beautiful view of the countryside. It has a full kitchen & comfortable accommodations.

Just the right size for a couple and their dogs. Plenty of walking areas on property. The owners and their dogs were very friendly and offered great suggestions. Within driving distance (< 30 minutes) of Watkins Glen and Ithaca. We had a great time!

Stunning views in every direction, especially the colorful gardens. Good base for exploring wineries, state parks, Ithaca, Finger Lakes in general. Mallard Cottage is very cozy, comfortable, and clean. Tom & Inez work hard to maintain their property and the environment, too.

Lovely Getaway with Pets
Mallard Cottage is delightful. The setting is breathtaking with Inez's wildflower gardens and the butterfly sanctuary. We were there during firefly season and had the lifetime privilege of seeing the field full of fireflies at night. It was breathtaking. The cottage is very comfortable (great shower) and great for our dogs who interacted so easily with Inez's and Tom's beautiful and gentle dogs. So close to Ithaca, wine country, and waterfalls at the gorgeous State Parks. What a getaway. Can't wait to go back!

Relaxing & Beautiful!
The Mallard cottage was perfect for a little getaway upstate. We were able to disconnect and recharge while walking the lovely yard, and we enjoyed the quaint simplicity of the countryside. Yet, the stocked kitchen, air conditioning, and beautiful garden made our stay feel easy and luxurious. We loved having the ability to come in from a hike and prepare a meal. The furniture on the gated deck allowed us to eat outside and not miss a minute of the gorgeous weather and landscape. Inez and Tom were so helpful, and our dogs had a blast playing with their friendly Goldens, Sally and Floyd. We felt at home and are already looking forward to coming back!

We are indeed very lucky to be located only 1 1/2 miles from Robert Treman State Park and 4 miles from Buttermilk State Park, not to forget Taughhannock State Park which is 8 miles from our doorstep! Perfect in every way
This cottage is absolutely lovely. The scenery & land is breathtakingly beautiful. The cabin is perfect for 2 adults + dogs. Inez and Tom are great hosts, while still giving us plenty of privacy. The getaway we needed.
We stayed in the Mallard Cottage for three nights. The quiet, scenic setting was only outmatched by our wonderful hosts, Inez and Tom. They were so welcoming and warm. Their two Goldens, Sally and Floyd only enhanced the experience with their friendly demeanour. We would recommend this property to anyone looking for a respite from the city. It has stunning views across Robert Treman State Park towards Ithaca, which is only 7 miles away. In July, when the first monarchs arrive, they are welcomed by millions of fireflies. Guests love to relax by the adjoining fire pit with a bottle of wine purchased from one of the many wineries in our area to watch the light show! Nice cottage in close proximity to Ithaca
We were visiting our daughter at Cornell during parents weekend. This place appealed to us because it was away from the crowds but only a 15 to 20 minute drive to Ithaca and campus. Place was cozy for two. Well furnished kitchen, although we did not cook. Owners were friendly. Had a great weekend.

Mallard is an ideal place for parents visiting their child at Ithaca College as we are only 7 miles from the campus and you don't have to drive through busy Ithaca! Cornell is appr. 10 miles from Mallard and can also be reached without having to drive through town. Situated on 15 acres of conservation land Mallard is a peaceful haven after a busy day with the kid! We hope to see you again some time!

A little slice of heaven

Thank you for your comments. Some of the cooking pots (frying pans) have been replaced and the on demand hot water heater as well as the propane heater will be replaced on 11/30/2021. In regard to the size of our cottage; It is quite clearly stated on the Vrbo site. We take comments of our guests quite seriously . However, we would have appreciated it if you would have told us before you left. We hope you otherwise enjoyed your stay at Mallard Cottage.

We stayed for our anniversary in October and wanted a place that we could bring our dog. It’s a beautiful area with a lot of hiking trails and wineries. The Hosts are very nice and easy to talk to. I wish We would have had the breakfast. It looked delicious, but we chose to do our own in the cottage.

There are plenty of activities that you can enjoy with your dog: Three nearby State Parks that allow dogs on leash with Robert Treman SP only 1 1/2 miles from the cottage. Most wineries and restaurants allow dogs on their outdoor seating areas. Mallard's large enclosed deck provides a place for your dog to get some fresh air on his/her own and the more adventurous kind can join Sally and Floyd on the extensive lawns to play or go for a swim in one of our ponds. We hope to see you again some time!

Our stay at the Mallard Cottage could not have been better. We just wish we could've stayed longer. The cottage was clean and the property is beautiful. The cottage has a great view and the sunrise can be enjoyed from the bed, or deck. The hosts are wonderful, and very knowledgeable about the area. We were impressed by and appreciate their conservation efforts. Our golden got along very well with Floyd and Sally. This was the most comfortable stay we've had at a vacation rental, and would absolutely stay their again.

Charming and very relaxing
The reservation process, from beginning to end, was very easy. Inez and Tom are very kind and knowledgeable about the surrounding area. They gave us helpful suggestions and provided a very charming and hospital place for us to stay. Mallard Cottage is surround by beautiful flowers with a great overlook of Ithaca, complemented with a secluded and safe feel. We came back late in the evening from exploring the local wineries/parks and felt warmly welcomed by the owners friendly dogs (Sally and Floyd) as they escorted us to our door. Overall, I give our stay an A+. We can’t wait to return!

Thank you for taking the time to write us this glowing review! We are always glad when people leave rejuvenated and relaxed, especially in these trying times! We do all the work ourselves, both inside and out. Five acres of our conservation land is dedicated Monarch Butterfly habitat and our flower gardens attract a host of winged visitors. Relax on the deck with a bottle of wine and you will very likely spot a humming bird or two! My favorite time: July, because the Monarch Habitat is lit up with fireflies that rivals the twinkling distant city lights of Ithaca! Every year I am so grateful to experience this miracle. And early June our considerable stand of peonies below the cottage are in bloom! We are looking forward to your next stay!

Lovely and peaceful
My husband and I chose Mallard Cottage for a short Finger Lakes getaway, and enjoyed being able to bring our dog along. The property was just as pictured--beautiful, peaceful setting. It is an eco-friendly property with gorgeous gardens. Inez is a welcoming, low-key host and made us feel right at home. We recommend it highly and hope to return some day.

Country Getaway
Wonderful! Quite country setting but close to Ithaca, Treman State Park and only one half hour from Watkins Glen as well as the Cayuga Lake Wine Trail. The cottage was super clean and comfortable and our deck surrounded with a beautiful flower garden with such a great view was amazing. Inez and Tom were great hosts and we really enjoyed their two Golden Retrievers, Sally and Floyd. Would definitely go back if ever in the Finger Lakes region.

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay! Mallards wrap around enclosed deck with its spectacular views is a great place to relax with a bottle of wine and some snacks. (Or a take away dinner purchased at nearby Wegmans....) And dogs love to hang out and sniff up all the new smells! Ithaca and its surroundings offer a lot of activities for guests and their four legged friends; There are 3 nearby State Parks with wonderful hiking trail and dogs are allowed on leash. And most restaurants and wineries allow dogs on their outdoor seating areas. Many wineries have live music on their lawns during the summer months and dogs are welcome. A lovely respite with our Dogs
We had a lovely stay at Mallard with our two greyhounds. The property is so relaxing, and the owners have thought of everything. The deck is entirely fenced in, so we were able to allow our greyhounds to sun unleashed on the deck. The views were incredible, and our dogs were instant friends with the furry innkeepers. This is also a super green rental, so you can feel good about your vacation.

Thank you for this lovely review. We are so happy that you commented on our green efforts because conservation is close to our hearts! Our electricity is generated by 92 solar panels, we recycle whatever we can, we compost whatever we can and we line dry our laundry as much as we can. And we are most grateful when our guests support us in these efforts! Our property is situated on 15 acres of conservation land of which 5 acres is a dedicated Monarch Butterfly sanctuary. We have some flapping around at the moment. And at the second half of June/first half of July this sanctuary turns into an amazing light show provided by trillions of fire flies! We are glad that the four of you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you back some time!

Dreamy cottage
My husband and I enjoyed our weekend stay! It was so close to Ithaca and many state parks! We also enjoyed some time in downtown Ithaca which was also very close! I would highly recommend to anyone traveling to the area!!!

Great Stay
We loved our stay at Mallard Cottage. Communication with Inez was very timely and helpful. The property is in a very peaceful, quiet location with great views. Our dog Tess enjoyed socializing with Sally and Floyd on the large, beautiful property. And, the location was very well situated - 15 minutes to Ithaca, many state parks, wineries and breweries within 20-60 minutes, 50 minutes to Corning Glass Museum. We loved it and will be back. Thanks Inez and Tom!

Lovely Cottage, wonderful stay
I first saw pictures of the cottage and knew I would love the stay, the location, the beauty! Everything was exactly as described, yet more. I say more because you have to actually see it to appreciate the beauty and experience the warm, special hospitality of the owners, Inez and Tom, and their sweet dogs, Sally and Floyd!

Wonderful short stay at Mallard Cottage
Me and my husband and dog Charlie very much enjoyed our stay at Mallard Cottage. The location is superb and the grounds are peaceful, beautiful, and exceptionally well maintained. The cottage had everything we needed and Inez showed us around and overall was a great host. A perfect getaway for those who want access to Cayuga and/or Seneca Lakes and all the nearby amenities.

Perfect weekend getaway especially for dog owners
The owners Tom and Inez were perfect hosts. They were really knowledgeable in the area and gave great suggestions on the spots to eat and places to visit. They respected your privacy but were readily available if needed. Greeted by two awesome golden retrievers who also made you feel right at home.

Perfect Getaway!
Very warm and welcoming. A darling cottage far enough out of town to feel remote, but close enough to access parks, stores, the wonderful village of Ithaca. Even though the weather wasn't great, it was a perfect respite. Would go again, without question. Perfect for well-behaved dog!

A relaxing stay for us and our dog!
This is a delightful place to stay! When the sun shines the deck is a perfect relaxing spot and all the amenities are provided in the cute cabin. The owners are welcoming and give warm invitation to share their lovely landscaping and offer a calm space for your pet to make friends with their dogs! We had a truly restful stay here and came home revived after plenty of walking and reading . We highly recommend Mallard Cottage!

We will return!!!
The Ithaca area is a halfway point for my sister (Massachusetts) and me (Western NY). Although we have met many places throughout the Finger Lakes in past years, we hope to make this our home away from home for future get-togethers! We will be sure to plan ahead as it appears to be a popular place. Arriving first, I received a friendly and warm welcome from Inez, Tom and their lovable dogs, Sally and Floyd! We had a wonderful stay at Mallard Cottage. It was very clean, comfortable and well- supplied with everything we needed for our stay. On our daily trips into Ithaca we discovered destinations for small side trips, including a hike at Buttermilk Falls State Park and a visit to South Hill Cider. And Inez gave us some great restaurant recommendations.
