Staff was very nice. I stayed in 2 different rooms as my trip was split by traveling. Both felt clean. Good space in sleeping area for both rooms bed comfortable ❤️ for sleeping. First bathroom more space (helpful if you need to wash anything out). Very easy to get to activities, restaurants, shopping, and the sea.

Nice hotel right off of Jean Médecin. Quiet (I had an indoor facing room so not sure if one’s facing the street are as quiet). Nice staff and comfortable bed and room.

1/5 - Very outdated and not clean. Tired/messy carpet, strong smell of damp and mould everywhere. Sheets were ok but mattress protector underneath was dirty with brown/blood-like stains, insect on towel, hair on bed, mold in bathroom. Hotel Univers did nothing. . Avoid. Photos as proof. 1/5 - À ÉVITER. Hôtel très vieillot et sale. Moquette usée et sale, forte odeur d'humidité et de moisissure partout dans l'hôtel. Les draps étaient propres, mais la protection de matelas en dessous était sale avec des taches brunes qui ressemblent à du sang (photo). Insecte sur la serviette (photo) et cheveux sur le lit (photo). Moisissure dans la salle de bain. L'Hôtel Univers n'a rien fait. . Photos à l'appui.

AC IS CONTROLLED BY THE HOTEL! it was 30° C (85 ° F) in our room. They have theromostats that make it seem like you can control the AC but it doesn’t work and when calling them they said they only have central AC. Great location and nice staff. Free beach towels

Dear Hôtel Univers Management Team, I am writing to formally express my serious disappointment regarding my recent stay at Hôtel Univers, located at 2 Rue de la Liberté, 06000 Nice, France. Unfortunately, my stay was miserable due to the lack of customer service and the unacceptable conditions in my room. The air conditioning was not working while temperatures were approximately 30°C (86°F). The room was unbearably hot, making it extremely difficult to rest, sleep, or feel comfortable. Although hotel staff provided three small fans, this was not an adequate solution. The fans did not properly cool the room and were certainly not a substitute for functioning air conditioning in such extreme heat. Most concerning, the hotel staff did not make any meaningful effort to move me to another room with working air conditioning. I was left to endure the excessive heat despite the hotel being fully aware that the air conditioning in my room was not functioning. I find this lack of action and customer care unacceptable. As a paying guest, I reasonably expected hotel staff to take my concerns seriously, demonstrate basic concern for my comfort, and make every reasonable effort to resolve the issue. Providing three small fans while leaving me in an unbearably hot room was not a satisfactory resolution. The lack of urgency, empathy, and effective customer service significantly worsened an already miserable experience. I chose Hôtel Univers expecting a comfortable room and professional

The hotel was small, but nice. It had a perfect location in central Nice, with basically everything you need in walking distance. The breakfast area is small, but I guess this is adapted to the limited amount of rooms/guests. It was never crowded during our stay. The breakfast variety was a little underwhelming for a 4 star hotel. Our biggest issue was the air conditioning in the hotel room. We were there during a heat wave, where the outside temperature was usually around 35 degrees Celsius. The air conditioning could not get the temperature under 26 degrees Celsius. The staff were helpful and gave us a fan for additional cooling, and even sent someone to look at the air conditioning when we talked to them about it. It didn't help unfortunately, but props to the staff for actually trying.

The room for 4 people was small dark and stinky. The room has this old smoky closet smell that seeped into your clothes. The lack of AC made it even worst. We had to use a portable fan from the front desk to cool the room down. The mosquitos prevented us from opening the window at night time to get more ventilation.

There was no AC in the building and they did nothing to fix it. The shower water went all over the floor bc there was no curtain or walls/door. The location was great and having a breakfast buffet was nice but unable to sleep in the record temps in France at the time made it not worth the spend to stay there.
