Nijmegen 2021 Holidays

Didn’t get to visit Hotel or Amsterdam because of travel restrictions and disappointed with hotels no cancellation policy especially under the circumstances, plan to visit Amsterdam when safe to do but won’t be booking this property ☹️

Loved this place, super cute and clean. However since I stayed on the roof( small room) it is hard to carry luggage up those stairs. If staying there I would pack light.

Excellent location within walking distance of basically everything, but I got stuck in what they called a 'twin' room on my first night in spite of booking a double because, when you book a double on Expedia, apparently it's only put through as a 'request' and I had the phrase 'Subject to availability' thrown in my face several times. This 'twin' room was essentially the dead space at the top of the stairs that they had somehow managed to squeeze two single beds into, but even some of the space in the room itself wasn't usable because of an additional four steps shortly after getting through the door. The bathroom was so tiny that you couldn't even sit on the toilet properly because the pipe from the sink was in the way. I made sure I was moved to a proper room the following morning, and it was a vast improvement. Not huge by any means but clean, with a good sized bathroom and a very comfortable bed. Tea/Coffee machine in Reception that was free to use until noon was a welcome addition, and there was some handy bits and pieces you could pick up like maps and mini-cards with details of all the attractions you could visit.

This is an excellent hotel, very well run with a very relaxing atmosphere, with first-rate staff. The rooms are large by Amsterdam standards, and the public spaces very large. It is a little bit away from the centre but has excellent transport (trams, metro, main train lines). The front desk will sell you tram tickets (and explain them!) or print your boarding pass or give you directions. The unique thing about this hotel is that it is built to provide (and subsidise) accomodation for students, while remaining a proper hotel. Buffet breakfast was excellent (sit near the croissants so you can see when freshly baked ones arrive!). Groundfloor cafe and bar very nice. Lots of sofas or places to work with laptops. Wifi faultless, TV mostly Dutch plus UK,US,FR news. Built in USB charger by bed, capsule coffee machine, mini fridge, safe. Shower excellent. Fully wheelchair-friendly, judging by the other guests.

Sky bar is awesome. Great bartenders
