If it's your first time travelling during the COVID-19 outbreak, you'll no doubt notice a few more restrictions and standards in place. Follow these tips and make your journey to Northern British Columbia go off without a hitch:

• Understand what, if any, restrictions or rules apply to both your origin and destination. You may not be able to travel depending on local circumstances, so make sure you check before you book.
• Requirements state you must wear a face mask at the airport, even at screening checkpoints. Be prepared to adjust your mask to verify your identity when asked by a TSA officer.
• You're no longer required to hand your boarding pass (electronic or paper) directly to a TSA officer. Rather, position your pass on the reader and then hold it up for inspection.
• TSA now allows passengers to take one container of hand sanitizer, up to 12 oz (350 ml) in size, in carry-on baggage. This will need to be removed from your bag at the X-ray machine for screening.
• Put any personal items (e.g, wallet, keys and phone) in your carry-on rather than a bin to minimize handling during the screening process.
• If you're planning to take food on the plane, place it in a clear plastic bag and then into a scanning bin. This lessens the likelihood that a TSA agent will need to handle your food container or carry-on bag for closer inspection.
