"The check in process was very frustrating. I arrived around 7:00pm and there were no employees on site. I never received a check in link and walked around the building until I found a QR code but still needed an access code. I had to call customer service for help. This took about 15 minutes in total.
I finally entered inside and the building was very nice. There’s a bar that not yet finished. So there aren’t really any amenities. The room was clean but had an odd smell. Similar to cooked broccoli. There was a shared door to the neighboring room and it is PAPER THIN. The people in the neighboring room were drunk and loud. The bed itself was comfortable but the pillows were flat. The bathroom is very nice and the room is spacious. However, the shower ran out of hot water for a few minutes. This happened twice. The location was close to the downtown and marina which made walking around convenient. I voiced my complaints to the company and they offered a 10% off my next stay which the place already feels a bit overpriced.
Overall, the hotel is nice if all you’re looking for is a place to sleep in the area. Just be prepared if you show up to check in past 6:00pm and pray you don’t have noisy neighbors."
"We stated 1 night at the Earl and it was great! This was our favorite hotel of our week long trip.
I'll mention the only 2 downsides up front: 1. There is only 1 elevator and it's at the very front of the building by check in so if your room is on the other side of the building (it's shaped like a square missing 1 side) then you may have some walking to do BUT this was fine for us and we used the circular staircases when leaving instead. 2. Parking is limited inside their parking lot, however you can park on the main road right next to the building usually and that worked out fine for us as well.
The upsides:
The location is wonderful and right by downtown and the drawbridge that opens every half hour. Super cool to see the big boats come through. You can also walk to the beach area and up to the mushroom houses if you are good with hills and we enjoyed this walk!
The room was MASSIVE - truly twice the size of any other rooms we stayed in at other hotels. The bathroom was also quite large and stocked with Beekman products which was a very nice touch.
The staff were top notch! We had no issues with check in or check out. They were able to provide great dining recommendations as well!"
"PROS: Very cute cabin. It is decorated adorably! I loved the fireplace, the decor, the comfort of the newer furniture, and the open layout. Everything we needed was there. I brought all of my own things but if you didn’t want to go that route, they provide all that you would need. There is also a deck with a table, chairs, and a charcoal grill that is nice. It’s a nice little sitting area. The cabin is surrounded by trees and other cabins that are very close so not much privacy or a view but we spent most of our time at the beaches and exploring the area. The cabin was in a great location for what we had planned. It was very quiet when we stayed. Cons: Cabin was clean other than the shower curtain having black mold on it (it was orange with bacteria and black mold at the bottom). The shower floor and walls need a good scrubbing and spots need new grout. We just wore our flip flops when we showered so we didn’t have to stand on the shower floor. There were ants throughout the cabin that we kept finding. That made it a little unsettling to sleep.Comfort of the beds- One bed had a softer mattress and the other bed had a firm mattress. Overall It is a nice little place to stay. I would give it four out of five stars."
