Fantastic!
Beautiful guest house. The rooms are spacious, clean, comfy and stylish. Lots of tea and coffee options in the room; mine had a Nespresso machine in it this time. Staff are always so pleasant when they welcome you. This is my second time staying and I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in Oban. The only negative is parking. While I’ve never had a problem, just be aware that spaces are limited and you may have to park across the road. There’s also the potential to get boxed in which isn’t ideal.

We enjoyed the view from our room over looking the bay with its sailboats and ferries. Alltavona was very comfortable and our hosts were wonderful. The breakfast was fresh and delicious. Alltavona’s location made it an easy walk into Oban or hiking along the waterfront. An incredible place to stay!

Very good property expensive during peak season
Used a reward night and booked a double king room which for the price £130 (had £95 reward), however I received a twin room. The hotel guest house was at a high standard and I slept a solid 10 hours on the single bed due to exhaustion and it was very comfortable. However if I had other plans then this would,have been very disappointing.

Thank you for your feedback .As you only paid 112.00 I do not think this is expensive in peak times.As you were travelling alone as you said it wasn't a problem with a twin room and if you had wanted a double we could have changed you over. I am sorry you had to mention this on the review even although you slept for ten hours !

The rooms are all unique and so fun! Service, especially at breakfast, was amazing! We had a little communication hiccup at check-in but that had to do with my booking through expedia (i.e. I got all the messages at once and later than sent) but they were very responsive and helped us get checked-in and caught up immediately upon arrival!

Very good location directly by the sea
The accomodation was superb, clean room with a small fridge. The interior was excellent. 2 disappointing aspects: No hosts were there at the arrival. For payment we had to write our details of the credit card on a sheet of paper, including the security code!!! Uncredible!

Thank you for your feedback and you enjoyed your stay .We are sorry re payment but if you had put your card details online like all other guests then we would not have to take them from you .There seems to be a bit of non trust issues which we found incredible!!We are always at the guesthouse if not on duty a but we have a check in times to allow us to have some off time .3pm -7pm we either ask our guests to let us know if they will arrive outwith these times to do self check in .I can only think that this was the case .We also send emails to state this and if you need assistance to contact us .I am sorry you found this incredible but we are a guesthouse not a hotel with 24 hour reception .Carol

The staff was very friendly, helpful, responsive, good communication. The location walkable from the train station—not super-close but close enough. A very nice breakfast was served for $10 with a beautiful view of the sea. Not so good was more or less clean room —the bathtub could use a scrub, pillowcases, too. One bed was covered in plaster dust, fortunately; I needed just one bed. The bathtub was claw foot with no plug for a bath and no showers curtain thus water cleanup on the floor necessary. The tub was hard for me to get in and out of. (I also found the room decor chaotic—sequin bedcovers making it not a comfy place to sit, and more. I can imagine someone else may like it.) So not the end of the world but because I’m older I’m not sure I’d stay there again.

Thank you for your comments and your feedback.As you have stated it was not your choice of decor but other guests love the room and decor.The bath plug is situated on the bath where the drain is , if you had asked we would have shown you ! I am sorry you missed it .The shower on the bath should be used when in the bath not as an overhead shower.I am sorry that the plaster again we would have replaced anything that was damaged.There seems to be a problem with the paper and this has now been seen to after we had decorated this year!The pillowcases are cleaned after each guest and disappointed by your comments as with the bath.If you had informed us that you were older and could not manage a bath tub we would have changed rooms.As you also have mentioned good communication any problems we would have rectified immediately .Perhaps find alternative accommodation that would suit your needs.

I had a wonderful stay. The property and my room were beautiful. I was greeted after a long day of driving with a pot of tea and a warm welcome. The views are fabulous and there is a nice place to walk across the street along the water and to restaurants , pubs, the ferry, etc. I had a special circumstance that came up and could not have been accommodated any better than I was by Megan. What a gem.

Location is off the highest-traffic streets in Portree, so it's quiet yet both walkable and easy to get to by car. Our room (in the back in a newer addition) was modern, had all the mod cons, and was light, but because it was in the back there were no views (price probably reflects this :). Would absolutely stay there again.

My husband and I stayed for 3 nights earlier this month, and it was delightful! The room was immaculate, and the view of the water was lovely. We appreciated the hot water pot for coffee/tea (provided in the room), as well as the mini fridge. The soaking tub was amazing, and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was delightful, essentially breakfast charcuterie! Cheeses, cold meats, breads, variety of fresh fruit, yogurt, cereals, juices, hot beverages, and hard boiled eggs. Ample amount of food for the cost of breakfast, especially since you'd have to walk to town to get breakfast elsewhere. However, the walkability of this guest house was great to restaurants and shops, while being quiet as well. The manager was great at checking if there was anything she could do to make our stay more pleasant. We hope to return to Oban and stay again! Only a few possible minor downsides, in case it's helpful to know: 1. It can be hard to make the temperature in the room colder if you like it on the cool side at night, for example, if you're an American used to having air conditioning in a hotel room, which this doesn't have. 2. There is a fee for breakfast; however, it's worth it! 3. If you have trouble with stairs and luggage, it could be hard if you can't stay on the first floor.

Wonderful stay!
We had a wonderful time. Our host Carol and the staff were fantastic and went out of there way to make us comfortable.we will definitely go back and recommend to everyone. It was a easy 20 min walk to the ferry and train.15 min to shops and restaurants. 5 min cab ride. Breakfast was fresh, delicious French press coffee. We enjoyed the walk!!

We had a great room, even if it was at the top of the guest house. The view of the water was terrific, the bed was comfortable, and the bath was lovely. One lovely surprise was that the guest house offers a continental breakfast! Only criticism we had is that parking is limited and we ended up putting our car on the street. As we were leaving early, this was not too bad, but travelers should be prepared. Also, if you don't want to haul your suitcase up 42 steps to your room, don't ask for rooms 6, 7 or 8.

THank you for your feedback snd pleased you enjoyed your stay . Perhaps ask for a lower floor if you have three large suitcases . We ask guests who leave early to park on the Road opposite the guesthouse which is free from 6pm - 9am incase you get blocked in !! I’ve climbed theses stairs daily and never thought to count them lol

Beautiful atmospheric guest house with great views
Beautiful guest house with well thought through rooms and decor. From what I could see each room was very individual but equally inviting. Externally chairs were laid out for visitors to sit and I took advantage of this and the beautiful view despite the rain. Parking was good but could possibly be laid out differently however this was a very minor point from an overall very enjoyable stay.

Charming guest house
Charming guest house with amazing views within walking distance from the centre of town. Communication was good, particularly in regards to providing a completely gluten free breakfast for my mum. All the staff we met were kind and helpful. The guest house was very clean.

Reception cluttered with objects from a bygone era giving a feeling of oddness eg. Old photos of children on the wall, a fireplace with 2 very worn armchairs and a table set up with a chess board used to simulate a comfortable space. For us it was a bit creepy, like someone’s front room from yesteryear. Going up to the room there was a scruffy rocking horse, rag dolls adding to the Victoriana. Room was dark and oppressive with too much furniture crammed into a very small space. Bathroom was bright and airy. The quality of a lot of the furnishings including the wallpaper were expensive however were lost in such a small room. Sometimes less is more. Breakfast by room service was in line with government pandemic guidelines and was good value for £7.50 per person consisting of bacon roll, muffin, banana, juice, cereal, milk, breakfast bar, coffee. Location is excellent, parking was available on site however due to possibly of being blocked in, later in the evening we parked on the esplanade to ensure ease of departure in the morning. This guesthouse was not for us, it appeared clean enough in the room, communal areas looked museum like and needed some TLC, front areas outside needed some tending: dead flowers in the entrance foyer, overgrown plant pots and headless statues don’t add anything. Some guests have used “quirky” I would probably say odd.

Thank you for leaving feedback although anonymous giving the impression you did not want us to be able to return feedback. I wonder how you would feel if I entered into your home and left horrible comments about your children photos and your collective items. After all it s a victorian guesthouse . The arm chairs are not worn and the rocking horse belonged to my children. The outside are was totally done this summer with a new wall and plants, I fail to see how it was needing tending !! As for headless statue it was Knocked over by a guest . Why not book a travel lodge or a premier inn which would be more in keeping with what you expect from accommodation. Most of our guests rave about our guesthouse but you always get the odd few who do not and I guess you are in that category !
