"I had a motorcycle that thieves tried to steal one night. They cut the holding straps but, I had it was chained to my vehicle and they gave up. The hotel needs to have security cameras to maybe deter future thefts."

"This property is centrally located in Santa Maria, perfect for business trips, my choice for over 20 years. The staff for the most part are friendly and knowledgeable. Over the years there have been some changes. The Restaurant at one time was 4-5 Stars, today 2-3. The wait staff is great; it's the Menu and food have degraded. At one time there was a Coffee Bar, no more. I understand that County Codes are responsible for the smoking restriction in the Patio behind the Bar which was very comfortable and convenient. I am a Cigar Smoker and now both Smoking Areas are uncomfortable and in guest traffic locations, not good. However, I still prefer the Historic Santa Maria Inn over other Hotels in the area."

"The only problem that I had was that the lock on my door was broken or malfunctioning, because when I turned the knob to lock it, it kept turning and didn’t engage. Besides that, we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone."
