My husband and I stayed at Mitsui Garden Hotel Okayama for one night between two parts of our trip near the Seto Inland Sea. The hotel is conveniently located near the city’s JR station and within walking distance of urban landmarks like Okayama Castle. It was clean and comfortable, and the staff were excellent — they even brought our takkyubin luggage to our room so it was waiting upon our arrival. The breakfast buffet offered a mix of regional, Japanese, and Western dishes, and it was the best breakfast we had during our trip to Japan.

Convenient stay in Okayama

Excellent hotel close to the central station. The staff is very friendly and hardworking, especially the lady at breakfast was unbelievable how she handled a full breakfast room with so many people and kept smiling and greeting everyone.

A convenient hotel in Okayama

Hotel location is very convenience. Just nearby the JR Okayama station. With a public bath is great when you are staying in the city. Complementary free drinks and snacks is appreciated. And there is discount offered by the hotel for the car park.

Staff are nice and helpful to assist for a smooth check-in and changing to non-smoking room when I mistakenly booked a smoking room. They also supply back a set of amenities heartwarmingly and clean up the room throughly everyday. They also fold the little plastic bag into cute triangle for saving the space. Only point to note is that the temperature control from the air conditioner is a bit warm for the winter time as it is centralised. It's overall a comfortable stay.

An excellent hotel which is a very short walk from the main train station. A 7/11 convenience store is even closer to the hotel. Also close to the hotel are entrances to the shopping underpass ichi ban gai which also allows easy access to shopping centres such as Aeon without having to cross streets. The hotel itself has a large reception area with very helpful staff many of whom speak English. Breakfast is in a large room with plenty of seating, and has a very good breakfast buffet. Outside breakfast hours that room is used for free coffee/a rest area etc. Laundry and public bath on (from memory) 10th floor - I didn’t use the public bath myself but I did overhear that as is normal in Japan it’s not available to those with large tattoos. My room was clean, modern and comfortable. My only issue was that I booked one of the smaller size rooms and the mini fridge was too small for me (e.g. I couldn’t fit normal 500 ml bottles in the door tray). I also thought the desk was too close to the bed, as when sitting in the chair the chair back was right up against the bed. Room was otherwise perfectly functional and spotless - more than happy to stay in this hotel again although next time I’ll book the next room size up !
