Pension Bergbach

Pension Bergbach

8/10 Good
"Booked for a couple of nights in October and extended it an extra night to see more of the area. The hotel is located a couple of miles outside the town of berchtesgaden. With sufficient I can parking for the number of rooms in the hotel. Opposite the hotel is the start of what appears to be quite a few walks/hikes in the area. Hotel reception was great, multi lingual, was very warm and welcoming and would always try to help plan (discounted) excursions in the area. We had a room on the top floor which was small but cosy and warm, bed was excellent and unlike most of Germany where it usually two singles pushed together it seemed to actually be a double bed. Free tea and coffee all day and night and an honesty fridge where you can get beers and soft drinks, just write it down on the ledger. We liked the location as we had a car so it was free parking and just a five minute drive to a large supermarket or the town centre. Being in such a quiet area there's not much in the way of shops or places to eat within walking distance though we did find a small lodge doing food and drinks on the walk to the waterfall (5 minutes away) Breakfast was good, buffet with lots of choice but as in Bavaria lots of biscuits, pastries and sweet stuff so watch your diet 🙂 Cost us around £100 pounds per night which seems about the going rate in Bavaria."
