About this property

The RED DOOR: Explore Pensacola's Downtown Entertainment next to Wedding Venues!

  • The Hawkins House | Historic 1880s Charm in Downtown Pensacola

Step into history at **The Hawkins House**, affectionately known as **The Red Door**, a beautifully restored 1880s home in downtown Pensacola. Nestled along a peaceful side street, this spacious 2,000-square-foot retreat blends historic Southern charm with modern comforts, offering an inviting getaway for families, couples, and friends.

Inside, soaring ceilings, abundant natural light, thoughtfully curated furnishings, and preserved 19th-century architectural details reflect the home's rich character. The open-concept living and dining areas provide welcoming spaces to gather, while the well-appointed kitchen and comfortable accommodations make it easy to settle in and feel at home.

Accommodating up to six guests, The Hawkins House features two bedrooms, an adjoining bunk room, and two-and-a-half bathrooms.

    Sleeping Arrangements & Bathroom Layout

MAIN FLOOR | KING BEDROOM + ADJOINING BUNK ROOM

The primary bedroom features a king-size bed, dresser, and walk-in closet. An adjoining bunk room offers twin-over-twin bunk beds, accommodating two additional guests. A sliding barn door separates the two sleeping areas.

The spacious downstairs full bathroom features a walk-in shower and a classic clawfoot soaking tub.

IMPORTANT – PLEASE READ: DOWNSTAIRS MASTER BATHROOM ACCESS

The downstairs full bathroom is located beyond the bunk room. Guests staying in the king bedroom must walk through the bunk room to access the shower and bathtub. Because the bunk room also serves as the passageway to this bathroom, it does not offer complete privacy, particularly when the bathroom is in use.

For added convenience, a separate half bathroom is located in the downstairs hallway and can be accessed without passing through either bedroom.

We encourage guests traveling together to consider this unique layout when planning sleeping arrangements.

    SECOND FLOOR | QUEEN BEDROOM

The upstairs bedroom features a queen-size bed and its own private full bathroom with a bathtub, offering a comfortable retreat separate from the main-floor sleeping areas.

IMPORTANT – STAIRCASE ACCESS: The upstairs bedroom is accessible via a narrow staircase with 15 steps. Please consider this when booking, especially if you have mobility limitations.

    Historic Charm Meets Downtown Convenience

Located on a tranquil residential side street, The Hawkins House offers the charm of historic Pensacola while placing you within easy reach of downtown's vibrant restaurants, boutiques, galleries, entertainment, and cultural attractions.

Enjoy exploring the surrounding historic neighborhoods, strolling through downtown, or discovering the many local restaurants and gathering spots that make Pensacola such a distinctive destination.

Visiting for a Wedding or Special Event?

The Hawkins House is conveniently situated within approximately one mile of many of downtown Pensacola's popular wedding and event venues, including:

The Barkley House, The Palafox House, Old Christ Church, 5eleven Palafox, The Junction Pensacola, Supposey Warehouse + Garden, Palafox Wharf Waterfront, The Rails on Wright Street, Court de Luna, New World Inn, and Seville Quarter.

Whether attending a wedding, celebrating a special occasion, or gathering with family and friends, you'll appreciate the convenience of staying close to the festivities.

Very well kept historic home. It has great character and is in a fantastic location for both downtown Pensacola and the beach--we enjoy both. Gloria is the best property manager too. Thank you--we will be back!

We stayed almost 2 weeks at this lovely home. It was sparkling clean, nicely furnished, and had everything we needed. It’s in a great neighborhood within walking distance to many restaurants and the shops on Palafox. Communication with the property manager was excellent and always timely. Highly recommended!

Roomy Cottage in Perfect Location

This is an adorable cottage and so nicely and thoughtfully furnished. My husband andI I were in Pensacola with two granddaughters for our grandson's high school graduation. The location was perfect for walking around the historic district and downtown (including to our grandson:'s graduation venue). There was plenty of parking to accommodate the kids' and grandkids' comings and goings through the week. The one thing that renters might note is that the bunk room is off the downstairs (master) bedroom and you have to go through it to access the master bath. It was fine for our granddaughters to share, but wouldn't provide a third private bedroom space.

Fabulous in every way!

Our stay at Red Door exceeded expectations. Communications were answered immediately and pleasantly. Check in was easy and the house was pristine!! This historic home has been excellently remodeled with all the conveniences of a modern home without sacrificing it's antique charm. Beautifully furnished, well stocked, comfortable. Safe, quiet street with private parking, fenced backyard meticulously maintained. The location is in the heart of downtown. Everything within walking distance! There was even a Farmer's Market in the park there Saturday which we thoroughly enjoyed! We would not hesitate to stay again...and again!!! Thank you for everything...it was perfect!

A Charming Pensacola Gem

This was our first time with Vrbo. We came to visit our Sailor at the local base. The location is close to the airport, very close to Downtown, and many restaurants. It is such a charming home with all the necessary comforts to make you feel at home. The communication with the host, Gloria was EXCELLENT. The home is spacious and incredibly clean. While we didn’t use the yard, it is very large and well maintained. We absolutely enjoyed our time here and we would absolutely book another experience here if we plan to revisit the Pensacola area. Gloria, was in touch with us immediately upon booking and was very attentive and helpful for the duration of our visit. She was an absolute pleasure. My entire family had an amazing time here. We absolutely loved our time here at the Red Door.

Great place to stay! Beautiful area and fun to walk. We walked with our dogs all around the area. The house has a great backyard area that is fenced in and the dogs loved being able to roam around it. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again. The host was excellent with communication and the house had all the necessary items to make for a pleasant stay.

This is a very cool house, and it is close to some of the best restaurants and bar spots in the vintage downtown area of Pensacola. The downtown charm does not disappoint, and it’s really old cool, and funky,… gotta love that. The house looks fancy, antique, warm, and homey. The living room areas, bathrooms, kitchen and bedrooms are well coordinated with tasteful, sincere decor. With a short two night stay, I missed out on some cooking, but I am sure certain that I will return again and enjoy that. Overall “YES!”,….I would recommend this nice place for a visit to Pensacola. It’s a Navy town, but “GO GREEN MONSTERS”. They’ll understand. Best always, B

What a Wonderful house!! We loved Everything about it, it was so close to downtown that we left the car at the house and walked everywhere. Everything that we needed was supplied, I even borrowed ideas from the house to do at my own home! The backyard was perfect for the dogs!! They were thrilled to be on the trip with us and not at the vet being boarded. Cannot say enough good things about this house, it's a definite Must, will look for it again if we need to come back to Pensacola. We highly recommend this awesome house and the owners were easy to work with as well.Thank you for allowing us to share in your house, it will be in my memory as one of my favorites :-)Sheila & Rob S
