Piru Holidays

A bit old fashioned in terms of decor but that's what makes it unique. Room was clean and comfortable, beautiful views from the window. Good breakfast buffet. There is a small workout room but not much else in terms of amenities. Shuttle to and from the airport. Walking path along the water directly behind the hotel. Beautiful patio out back to sit and eat that overlooks the water. Not much around it in terms of shopping or restaurants outside of the ones in hotels. 3min walk or a few mins drive to all of that. Close to Millbrae station for Bart and Caltrain.

The renovations (since it was known as the Sir Francis Drake) created a very nice and pleasant atmosphere. Noise level on the Powell Street-side was relatively high due to a combination of the trollies and late-night conversations/shouting in the street. Otherwise, the stay was fantastic. Note: I unexpectedly ended up extending my stay and was moved to another room. The noise was not an issue at all on the Union Square facing side of the hotel.

The busy reception area was managed very well by the efficient staff. Our room and hallways felt spacious and felt light and bright filled with natural light. The bathroom was a little tight. We enjoyed the great breakfast that offered many choices. We found Hotel Riu at Fisherman's wharf to be a great place to stay at.
