It was ok just to spend the night. Don’t expect a traditional hotel with amenities and to be fair with them, you will get exactly what you paid for. Hotel is outdated but staff is very attentive and friendly. Important to know that there is not bathroom in the room, so you will have to use a shared bathroom in the hallway. Wifi is available only in the common areas.

Very welcoming to this economic hotel especially when arriving after midnight having walked from the airport. We enjoyed the apricot tart and the fresh coffee at breakfast and the luggage store was very handy before our train which left from the nearby station.

You get what you pay for
Wifi only on the lobby. Breakfast consists of prepackaged (aka stale) croissants and muffins with jam. Sheets were clean but blanket had stains, sink was dripping. Good location for a one night stay if you're going to/from the airport or train station, but don't expect much else.

Kind staff, bad place.
The staff at the hotel was really kind and the location is handy. However, we got quite disappointed by a few things: - The room hasn't been cleaned in ages on some surfaces. Dust everywhere. - The bathroom had a bit of mold. - The breakfast, even though is a 2-star hotel, was disappointing, specially comparing to what you normally get at hotels in Italy. -The blinds didn't close completely. - There was no noise-isolation at all.

I think the name ‘moderno’ is misleading..there is nothing modern about this place. They didn’t even check you in by computer! This is a cheap hotel and you get what you pay for. The room was ok..definitely in need of updating. The hotel is about 20 mins walk to tower of Pisa..which was fine and also 15-20 walk to airport..which was handy and very simple. The older gentlemen on reception was very nice, friendly and helpful :). Good hotel if you don’t have high expectations.

The staff was very friendly, but we booked a room with shared bathroom accidentally, and there was only a shared bathroom and shower for what seemed like too many rooms. The shared bathroom was not very clean. Rooms were very, very old and cleanliness was questionable. Bed sheets were clean, but one of the beds had a bad smell. Our room was on the main floor at street level. Between the noise of the street, other guests using the shared bathroom, and the train on the other side of the hotel, it was very difficult to sleep. I would definitely not recommend this hotel.

The Hotel is conveniently located, very close to the train station and within a short walking distance from Pisa historical centre. Communication with the hotel prior arrival was excellent. Staff are very nice and friendly. The room had all amenities, as advertised.

Very friendly, family run hotel in perfect location close to station. Received an excellent recommendation for a restaurant, and it was possible to leave the luggage on the departure day for later collection.

It’s a fair two stars, with excellent location besides station, functioning air conditioning and 24h desk staff. Attention only if you are sensitive to noise at night, as you may hear the trains passing by. Excellent pit stop to/from airport/ station.

The room where we stayed was nice and spacious, beds quite comfy. But the hotel has no lift which can be quite an issue if your got some heavy luggage. The noise from the train station didn’t let us to sleep well at night. Also for some strange reason at night the air con was turned off for a couple of hours by the hotel management as we stayed in August it was a nightmare hot in a room. The hotel’s staff was very friendly & helpful.

The staff were very friendly and helpful and it was a great location for the airport and train station - not too long a walk into the city. However, the room was awful for us. We booked a non smoking room but it absolutely stunk of cigarettes - service was clearly not used to ensure previous guests were notified or the room was thoroughly cleaned to get rid of the smell. It was not the smell of a few cigarettes the room had been smoked in frequently

Hotel is good located close to airport as well as centrum and clean.It is bit old but Pisa is an old town so it can't be different and I like it. Very friendly staff and always happy to help.

Affordable, well located and excellent coffee.
On the positive side: the staff was excellent, friendly, helpful and efficient, the room was clean and comfortable, the breakfast was good, especially the coffee, the shared bathroom was clean, the hotel is located close to the train station, and the cost of the room was quite low. On the less positive side, whilst the location is very convenient, the street is a bit drab, and the shared bathroom would have benefitted from a can of air-freshener. All in all, we would certainly stay here again.

Close to station and sights.
My parents had stayed her 2 months ago and recommended this hotel. It was a wonderful stay and so convenient to the train station. Hosts were warm and friendly. Highly recommend.

Hotel Moderno completely met my expectations. Located by the train station, it was good for a single night stay. I arrived early, the staff was warm and welcoming and allowed me to store my bags while I enjoyed the city of Pisa.

Modest but close to transportation.
The hotel is walking distance to the train station. The hotel staff is very friendly. The common area WC was in full demand on this trip, which required an awkward waiting time. The continental breakfast was modest, but satisfying. The room was spacious with a sink. Overall, the friendly staff made up for the modest accommodations.

Great, nice staff and convenient location
friendly staff, helpful and good tour guides. Rooms are very basic and hotel is very close to the train line so if you are a light sleeper you might want to avoid. Breakfast in mornings is toast, cornflakes and yoghurt with juice and coffee.

Stayed at this hotel few years ago for first time & just been back. Location & staff good. Bring your earplugs if you want to sleep - you either get road or train noise & from other guests! Bathroom had bad smell from plumbing this time & no alternative available. All in all ok for a basic, no frills base

Convenient and very decent.
It's a decent and clean hotel. Very near to the Pisa Centrale Station and 15-20mins walk to the Leaning Tower. Recommended.

Cheap nasty hotel
I wasn’t expecting much we booked a cheap hotel for one night near to the train station, which it was. However it was the most uncomfortable nights sleep I have ever had, the room smelt terrible of which to me smelt like lanolin, which kept me awake all night, the bed was extremely uncomfortable the pillows were about 2cms deep and the room was filthy with damp on the walls. It was so bad we left at 9.00 am straight after the abysmal breakfast and without a shower because I wouldn’t have felt any cleaner showering there and sat in the airport 5 hours before our flight as we couldn’t bear to be in there any longer. As a souvenir l had the smell on my clothes from the hotel room for the whole day and long journey home. I can rough it with the best of them but this was too much and we left a stunning week in florence deflated by this hotel.

Good price for a simple Hotel
Friendly staff and relatively good price per night but very basic clean looking hotel. You get a continental breakfast and fresh cappuccino in the morning. Bathroom is very small but nice and clean. Walls very thin you have hear what neighbours are saying. Wifi internet doesn't work in the room. Location is great if you want to be close to Train station and airport but a bit of walk to the tower and the tourist area.

Excellent hotel in an amazing location, can't beat the price! Super lovely staff and comfy room. My only niggles would be that there weren't really enough power points in the room, and the shower holder was broken. Also doors constantly slamming early in the morning, which isn't really the hotel's fault. I really enjoyed my stay and would stay again!

A good clean hotel. Very helpful and friendly staff. It’s in a quiet area so we got a good nights sleep. It’s walking distance to the leaning tower and a quick taxi journey from the airport. An excellent starting point to see Tuscany.
