"The overall experience was great! Spacious rooms with lots of space in common areas. Very well supplied. We stayed for a full week and everything we needed was right there. The kitchen and laundry were clean, well supplied, and a pleasure to use! Thank you for a great experience!"

"We had a very good time at the house. It was comfortable, very clean and had all the amenities we needed. We enjoyed the location a lot since it wasn't in a busy part of town but within 5 minutes of our whale watch and 15 minutes to downtown. I was not clear that it was a duplex but we didn't have any issue with outside noise. Very nicely kept."

"Great location and good parking. Restaurant/bar next door had good food. I saw where people had complained about the road noise, we used a sound machine that was provided so it wasn’t a problem. Also we are early risers usually up by 6am. My daughter lives in Juneau so we will definitely stay here again if there is availability."

"The property was absolutely perfect for us. The home was cozy, inviting, and unique! We even had a sweet (big) pup come over for a visit. He was the SWEETEST boy! At one moment, we heard a rustling in the bushes, and he barked at whatever it was to keep us safe. The flora and fauna were absolutely breathtaking. We will definitely stay here again when we visit our daughter at UAS. Thank you!!"

"10/10 experience - We had a large, multi-family group (11 individuals) that stayed comfortably in the Ruddy House. Richard, our host, was outstanding and shared history, insight, and his love for nature. We took advantage of the passenger van available to rent during our stay which was very convenient. Being a long-time resident of Juneau and having extensive experience in whale watching/outdoor excursions, we were able to join Richard for a whale watching excursion, and it was spectacular. The whales were incredible, but it was lovely to join Richard on his private boat for a personal, unforgettable experience. He worked very hard to make sure we had everything we needed. The cabin felt like a quintessential Alaskan experience filled with ocean views from nearly every room and quirky seaside decor. Little conveniences made the home feel very comfortable including soft water, a fully stocked kitchen, and great beds with blackout curtains in the rooms. An unexpected bonus was the tide pools each morning filled with starfish, sea urchins, and little crabs for our toddler to explore! Of note, this property has a steep staircase leading to the front door. It was not an issue for us as it is well maintained. It may be a consideration for those with limited mobility."

"This place was perfect for us! This was our first trip to Juneau and Alaska, so we wanted to get a broad picture of the area. Hillside Haven was close to plenty of amenities and services, but well away from the cruise ship crowds of downtown. We rented a car, so we were able to spend a few half days downtown enjoying the restaurants and other attractions, and the rest of the time out exploring on our own, up and down the coast, the glacier, and Douglas Island.We were able to rent a kayak and arrange a separate whale watching excursion, both at Auke Bay just a couple of miles down the road. The Alaska State Ferry terminal is also at Auke Bay, but on the northern end, so it is literally walking distance away from the suite (1/2 mile or so if I had to guess).Theresa and Tommy were the great hosts. They gave us the perfect balance of privacy to do our thing, but Theresa was always available to answer any questions about the place or the surrounding amenities in the area if we needed help.The place was clean and comfortable, and had a well appointed kitchen, bathroom and even access to a laundry room. To top it off, the steam shower / hot tub also felt really nice after spending a couple of cooler rainy days out exploring in our rain gear.We would definitely stay here again!"
