Hood Canal Beachfront Bungalow
You’ll feel your cares drifting away at the Hood Canal Beachfront Bungalow. At the end of a forested country lane, you’ll find your supreme waterfront vacation experience on one of the best beaches on Hood Canal. This cozy 2 bedroom, 1 sitting room, 1 bath home will accommodate up to 4.
The Beach At the bottom of the short stairway is a cement platform atop the bulkhead. At high tide, water comes up to the bulkhead making it easy to launch your kayak. The round rock beach leads to sand at low tide, perfect for beach combing and gathering shellfish.
Living The living room wall of windows looks east over Hood Canal. Sliding doors conveniently connect you to the outdoors and ample wrap-around decking with Adirondack chairs, and a propane BBQ. The living area is fully carpeted and just off the kitchen and dining area. It features a free standing wood burning stove, a plush sofa and a comfy lounge chair where you can view passing boats, and the occasional submarine, through the spotting telescope. There is also a flat screen TV with Dish Satellite. You can use your Netflix or other streaming services.
Kitchen Dining The galley kitchen features a large fridge, full size electric stove/oven, a microwave and hardwood flooring (no dishwasher). The kitchen opens to the dining area. Fabulous sunrises await you and your morning coffee. In the evening, prepare and dine on your shellfish bounty and other delicious creations around the dining table that seats 4.
Bedrooms Both bedrooms are at the west end of the house with Queen sized beds and night stands with additional lighting. An additional sitting room serves as a game room, reading room, or privacy room. You decide.
Bathroom The full bath features plenty of storage and a full sized shower tub. Note: The basement and garage are used for storage and not accessible to guests.
Location On the East side of the Toandos Peninsula, part of the Olympic Peninsula, you’ll enjoy a variety of outdoor adventures. Spectacular hiking trails are nearby in the Olympic National Forest in the foothills of the Olympic Mountains. Enjoy Golfing at the Port Ludlow championship golf course. Or kayaking from your beach. Down the road you can enjoy Sunday Matinee “Concerts in the Woods” at the Laurel B Johnson Community Center. And in the evening relax around the firepit roasting hot dogs and marshmallows. All of this and only one hour from the Bainbridge Island Ferry terminal. Or 2 hours if driving from SeaTac airport and wanting to avoid ferries. https://admin.vrbo.com

The Hood Canal Beachfront Bungalow is a great place to stay if you are looking for a few quiet days. The cabin was very clean, and everything I needed for cooking was there. I really enjoyed the fireplace and the telescope. But most of all, the quiet was amazing.
I would definitely recommend!
This location was perfectly remote with amazing views of the Hood Canal, surrounded by forest and the beach a 3 minute walk away. The house has an excellent wraparound deck around the top floor living area and huge windows along the canal side. The house is clearly in the process of being updated with a number of unfinished details throughout. It felt like someone's weekend project. Not what we expected for the price we paid. Another issue was that the tap water was undrinkable due to a very strong metallic taste. We had to drive the 30 minutes to Walmart to stock up on drinking water after we arrived. No drapes/blinds on a number of windows so it was super bright and very warm in the morning as the house faces east. Great morning birdwatching (loons) and saw some harbor porpoises as well. Deer and squirrels, too. So quiet you could hear a bird taking off from the water. Until the naval base down the way blasts revelry and the national anthem at dawn and dusk.
Our family enjoyed 3 nights at this property. We loved paddle boarding each morning and getting to hikes in the Peninsula. The home was clean and quiet with lovely water views and waterfront access. Would recommend for a quiet Peninsula getaway!
We were looking for a week away from the city and noise, so we packed up a week's worth of food and wine and headed here and stayed put (with the exception of a visit to Port Townsend). We got exactly what we wanted, which was peace, quiet, and place on the water. The only noise we experienced was birds and water lapping on the shore. The house was absolutely fine, and clean. Like pristine clean. The kitchen was small but stocked with the things we needed to prepare meals, and the bathroom shower had awesome water pressure and plenty of counter room. The towels and bedding were fine as well. We also thought the location was perfect as it was remote, but less than ten miles from Highway 104. It was also easy to find and not on a road that people use unless they live there. The beach is accessed directly from the property in less than minute by going down a short path and a short staircase. We'll be back. Thanks so much, Jolene!

Overall a great spot to stay.
The property was clean and comfortable for a long weekend. We had a good time driving to the mountains, admiring the scenery, and were able to see otters playing in the water from the house and balcony.
There was a big storm and it knocked the electricity out for over 24 hours. It must happen fairly often because it’s noted on the first page of the guestbook, and when the electricity is out so is the plumbing. This put a damper on the trip but may just be a trade off for the remote area.
Overall it is a great space.
Cozy and quiet little bungalow, nothing fancy. Lovely view of Hood Canal from the house/deck, and down at waterfront. Stairs down to water front may be challenging for some. Really enjoyed watching sunrise with a cup of coffee from the deck and down by the water. Bugle calls from the Naval base across the canal was a special treat! Bring drinking water as the tap water has a strong irony smell. Would’ve been nice if the kitchen and bathroom were better stocked. A bit far from Olympic NP if using as launch point. Overall we had a quiet and relaxing stay.
We really enjoyed staying here. It was very quiet and relaxing. The house had everything we needed and was very clean. The beds were very comfortable. The location is close enough to visit Port Hadlock, Port Ludlow and Port Gamble. We will be looking forward to our next visit.
We were hoping for a real beachfront property, where we could walk on the beach and enjoy the waves. For this property, the beach front is very small. It is hard for someone with arthritis to get down to the beach, and once there it takes only a few seconds to walk the length of the beachfront you are allowed to walk on. The property does have a nice view from the deck, with nice trees and lovely bird song as well as the canal, which is pretty. The interior of the house was very pleasant, spotlessly clean, and it was very quiet at night. We slept well. All the appliances worked well, and there were plenty of utensils for cooking. If your idea of a great vacation is to stay indoors or sit on the deck and look out at beautiful views while grilling some meat and having quiet nights, this place is ideal. It is not close to other parts of the Olympic peninsula, and so we did a lot of driving. We would have loved to spend hours walking along the beach, but alas!, it was nowhere near long enough.
What a fantastic spot! Right on the water, decorated to a T in cool mid-century modern style, with comfy beds and everything we needed. I will absolutely look to stay here again next time I’m in the area.
We were able to enjoy the Olympic Peninsula from this great house with direct beach access. The house is very private and has great views from the living room and deck. The house was clean and had all that we needed in terms of kitchen utensils and towels in the bathroom.
Clean, quiet home with lovely water and beach view and access.
