About this property

4BR Modern Walkable to Alberta • Sleeps 10

  • The house runs vertically, which is how 10 people get real privacy.

Ground floor: two bedrooms, one with a queen bed and one with the queen bunks. No bathroom on this level.

Middle floor: the main living space. An open living room with a large TV, a fully fitted kitchen with new appliances and a farmhouse table that seats everyone, a half bath.

Top floor: two queen bedrooms, each with its own full bathroom and shower and the washer and dryer.

Every bedroom has ductless heat and AC on its own remote.

Whole house, self check-in. A lockbox to the left of the front door holds the key, and the code comes through the day before you arrive. Bags can be dropped from noon, tucked by the front door.

Check-in is self-guided, so you can arrive on your own schedule. I'm a message away whenever you need anything during your stay.

King is a residential neighborhood wedged between NE MLK and the Alberta Arts District, which puts groceries, food carts and a night out all on foot. Natural Grocers and the Cason's butcher counter are a 3-minute walk, Piedmont Station's covered food cart pod 7. Alberta's west end starts a few blocks east, with Alberta Street Pub for live music about 10 minutes away. The heart of the district around NE 20th is 18 minutes, where Proud Mary does Australian-style brunch and coffee, Bollywood Theater does Indian street food, and the Alberta Rose Theatre has shows most nights. Peninsula Park's rose garden is a 20-minute walk.

Parking is free street parking in front of the house, no permits or time limits. There is no garage and no driveway, so plan on the street for every car.

Bus 72 on Killingsworth is 2 minutes away, bus 6 on MLK 3, and both reach downtown with one ride. The MAX Yellow Line station at N Killingsworth is a 20-minute walk. PDX airport is about 19 minutes by car, downtown 20 to 25. The streets are flat and well laned for bikes.

Three floors and two flights of stairs: the ground-floor bedrooms share the half bath one level up, and both showers are inside the top-floor bedrooms, so anyone sleeping downstairs climbs two flights to shower. Not the right house for limited mobility. Towels are provided, washcloths aren't.

This is a quiet block and the neighbors know us. Parties, or a headcount above the booking, get reported and shut down, and the reservation is over at that point.
