The Concordia/ Alberta Arts Retreat is a newly renovated daylight basement apartment, which will provide you with a private, personal, & economical alternative to staying in a hotel/motel. It is nestled on a quiet tree lined residential street. We offer a newly renovated beautiful 800sq foot very spacious private unit. It has everything you need whether you are visiting PDX for a few days or for an extended stay. We live in the main part of the house just above you with our two maine coon kittens.
Located in the heart of the Historic Alberta Arts district the Sanctuary is sure to deliver a unique experience in custom designed, space efficient housing & convenient access to some of Portland's hottest spots, just steps away from diverse restaurants, natural food grocery stores, yoga, massage studios etc… You can walk or bike though one of our numerous beautiful parks or community gardens. There are also bus lines within a few blocks walk that take you all over the city or rent a car to go. We love our neighborhood for offering the diversity of all these things, but with the peace and quiet of a neighborhood.
We wanted the apartment to be tranquil, meditative, efficient, green-friendly environment combining both comfort & practicality. The sanctuary shares a garden (with us and also a couple other renters) with bamboo rustling in the breeze and fully landscaped yard space. Perfect for reflecting, reading, relaxing, happy-houring or whatever your heart desires.
Guest Access -lockbox entry allows for easy 24 hour check in / check out, at your convenience. We will send you the code upon arrival. You'll have complete private access to the unit you have rented & the grounds of the property, including garden space which are shared spaces. There are 7 stairs to enter the unit so keep that in mind. We are not ada.

Other Things to Note • Kitchen induction cook plate, cookware & utensils - enough to heat up a meal or prepare a simple one. Toaster, blender, convection oven, crock pot & hot water pitcher, rice cooker, Microwave. There are so many amazing restaurants nearby - we think you'll be out enjoying them more than cooking in the cottage - but the kitchenette will serve to help you prepare simple meals if you'd like to stay in & eat too. • shared Outdoor sitting area with patio • Memory foam queen size mattress bed in main bedroom, twin bed • Free Wi-Fi • Cadet heaters energy efficient • Ready-to-fire charcoal grill -TV etc.: We have a dvd and VHS player as well with lots of library movies as a ROKU box for netflix and any station you wish to log into to watch. Maybe read a good book from our stocked lending library? We have numerous informative magazines and info about Portland neighborhood offerings as well as a stocked bookshelf and games. • Ample street parking & alley entrance if needed • Guest entrance along side of main house through gate House Rules -No parties or events - no more than 3 people allowed babies under 3 ok. -Check-in is after 3 -cancelation policy. Please read it we do not offer changes. We also do not allow for date changes within the window of the policy. -Smoking is NOT allowed! -People other than those in the Guest party set forth above may not stay overnight in the property. Any other person in the property is the sole responsibility of Guest. -The unit is privately owned and property is occupied by the homeowners; the owners are not responsible for any accidents, injuries or illness that occurs while on the premises or its facilities. The Homeowners are not responsible for the loss of personal belongings or valuables of the guest. Sink is in common space shared with kitchenette. -The property is furnished and includes all kitchen utensils, cookware, dining ware, french press coffee maker, hot water pot, stove, toaster, crockpot, blender, silverware, towels, sheets, spices, some condiments, iron, ironing board, TV and dvd/vcr player. -TAXES: Portland automatically collets the 11.5% local lodging tax included in your charges. The space was very cute and cozy, the perfect place for a couple or two friends. It had plenty of amenities for the size of the space and was walking distance to bus lines and plenty of places to eat.
My boyfriend and I stayed here for 3 days and had a great time. The hosts are great at responding to messages and checking in, the place is pretty spacious, and it's by an insane amount of shops, restaurants, bars, etc. that you can easily walk to. Would recommend!
This place is amazing! What a great place to stay. Super close within walking distance to many food options which was a huge plus for us! The unit we stayed in was very clean, and a cool little outdoor sitting area. The backyard is a very cool tranquil area to sit and relax while feeling secluded! I highly recommend staying here! The hosts were equally as amazing and helpful with information. We will for sure stay there again.
The property was quite beautiful inside and out and I loved all the plants and flowers in the garden. Inside was nicely decorated and the had a great use of space. It worked well for 3 people. The host was friendly and I loved her cats. Parking was easy and instructions thorough. Thanks so much for a great place to stay while in town.
We loved our stay! It was more spacious than I'd imagined while being very cozy. Great for hot days, we were there during a heat wave and it stayed cool and comfortable through the 90 degree days. My daughter loved the garden and watching the kitties on their catio. The hosts were very responsive and helpful, but it felt very private as well. If we visit again we'll definitely keep it in mind for future stays.
The apartment was in the basement of the home. It was clean and well appointed. My only issue is my wife and I are tall...6'3 and 5'10. A shorter person would not have to dodge the support beams...LOL! Other than that and not seeing the cats it was a very comfortable stay.
A lovely and blissfully cool basement apartment. There was a heat wave (104°!) in Portland yet we were very comfortable here. It's a cozy apartment stocked with all you might need. Towels, kitchen appliances and tools. The garden is so restful, we took big sniffs of the jasmine every time we walked by. We got to visit with Edie & Dorian as well. Good communication with the hosts. Just what we needed and wanted.
A friend and I stayed here to go visit Adelman farm in Salem. This neighborhood is so beautiful, full of moms and dads walking with their children, and walking distance to great food & coffee.Would definitely stay again!
We stayed here for three nights and enjoyed the beautiful, cozy, and comfortable vacation rental in a wonderful location in Portland. The outdoor space and the house itself are clean and neat, and the hosts were promptly responsive to our questions. It was worth the cost!
Property was as advertised (very neat, clean and quiet), owner communication was outstanding, and we enjoyed visiting with the kitties in their outdoor rec room as we passed by them! Neighborhood was great too. Highly recommend this property!!

My 37 yr. old nephew stayed at the property instead of me. In his words "Absolutely Adorable". He wants to stay there again on his next trip to Portland. It was quiet, comfortable, and walking distance to so many restaurants and shops.
