About this property
Your Front Door Opens onto Mississippi Ave
- An older Portland house on the avenue itself, restored rather than gutted, so expect wood floors, tall windows and a staircase that announces whoever is on it.
Downstairs: the living room with a deep couch and a 75" TV, a dining room with a farmhouse table for the whole group, and a fully equipped kitchen. The sofa bed is here.
Upstairs: all three bedrooms and the bathroom. One bedroom has two queen beds, the other two have one queen each. Every bedroom has its own mini-split, so each room picks its own temperature.
Bathroom: one, upstairs, with a clawfoot tub and a shower head. Washer and dryer in the basement, fast Wi-Fi, and a private backyard.
The whole house is yours, with self check-in through a lockbox by the front door. The code comes by message before you arrive. Bags can be dropped from noon on arrival day.
Check-in is self-guided, so you can arrive on your own schedule. I'm a message away whenever you need anything during your stay.
You're on the Mississippi strip, not near it. Gravy, the brunch spot people line up for, is a two-minute walk. Mississippi Studios has live music most nights with a bar and burgers attached, Prost! does German beer on a big patio, and Por Qué No does the tacos. Food carts, vintage shops, a nail salon, coffee and ice cream fill the blocks in between. The N Williams restaurants are a 10-minute walk east, and the Moda Center and Convention Center are a 34-minute walk or a few minutes by car.
Parking is on the street. Mississippi Avenue itself has spots, and the side streets a block over usually have more. On a weekend evening it can take a lap of the block.
The MAX Yellow Line at Albina/Mississippi is a 15-minute walk and runs straight downtown, and the 4 bus stops on Mississippi. Driving, downtown is 10 minutes and PDX airport 20. Portland's main bike route north runs a block away.
One bathroom, upstairs, for the whole house. Groups of six or more should plan their mornings around it. The house is on a busy avenue, which is the point, so you'll hear the street and the occasional bus. The stairs creak. Towels are provided, washcloths are not.
The homes on either side are neighbors we care about. Parties get reported and shut down, and the stay ends there, no exceptions for "small ones."
