"Our family stayed here for a family wedding. As we were all coming from out of state, we were happy to have a place we could all be together (and save money by cooking instead of eating all our meals out). The layout of the house was perfect for us (no bedrooms on the main floor, one downstairs, and 3 upstairs). Our family took the "kids" room- my 5 & 8 year olds LOVED the bunkbeds! It's never been so easy to get them to sleep!One thing the house was missing was a can opener (we know how it is, they break, a guest walks off with it, etc). I sent Vern a message to see if it might be somewhere else. When we confirmed there was none, Vern dropped one off at the house with-in probably 30 minutes. I've never stayed anywhere where the host was so on top of my messages. We were allowed to check out an hour late, which was so helpful for my parents.The backyard is fully fenced & great for my parents' dog, and my kids absolutely had a blast on the playset. It was hard to get them inside!If you ever find a reason to go to Ankeny, I cannot stress enough how much you should stay here!"

"There’s a lot to like about this house. It was large enough for my husband and me plus my daughter’s family of four. The play area in the garage was a big hit for our 9 yr old. The separation of bedrooms upstairs vs downstairs allowed each family to have their own sleeping space. The yard is large, fenced with grass so good for dogs. The neighborhood is very quiet and seems safe. It’s close to major roads and amenities. There were a few issues that made our stay less than ideal. A repair guy was at the house when we checked in. He replaced an exhaust fan in one of the bathrooms. Unfortunately he didn’t fix the lights, too, so that bathroom was pretty dark. He did fix the kiddie gate on the stairs going to the downstairs so that was good. The yard is great but it hasn’t been mowed in some time so the grass is tall which made it hard to pick up after our dogs. There was a large pile of sheets and towels in the dryer that we didn’t know where to put. In order to cool the top floor, we froze the family sleeping in the downstairs. The cooling system has one thermostat on the main floor. The listing did not say that access to all bedrooms requires either going upstairs or downstairs- no bedrooms are on the main floor. Finally, we’ve stayed in a lot of short term rentals and the check out process was a bit onerous. Stripping the beds for that many beds on our way out was time consuming. "

"We were in town for a bridal shower. This property was a perfect location to the venue and we were able to prepare some of the food for the event. Beds were comfortable! "

"We enjoyed Uptown and the High Trestle Trail. The accommodations were perfect for our family reunion of 4 adults. We enjoyed sitting outside on the deck. "
