"The resort was beautiful. There were a few minor repairs that needed to be made (like wall paneling coming up or chipped paint, but that didn’t bother me). The landscaping/ gardens were beautiful. The pools were awesome! The food wasn’t the best. Breakfast was good, but dinner buffet was so-so. Restaurants were decent. The hotel app was not user friendly for making reservations, had to go to customer service to reserve the restaurants, Very questionable seeing food not kept at proper temperature (salads, sliced meats and cheese). I’ve worked in restaurants for years and understand food safety. Some staff didn’t seem very friendly. Not many smiles and didn’t seem like they’re willing to help you. Honestly, some made me feel like we were an inconvenience to them. There were some that were very friendly and had welcoming smiles. Another issue.. room service. My son and his girlfriend ordered room service, was told it would be an hour, they waited 2 hours and it didn’t arrive. They called and were told it would be 5 minutes. Waited another 30 minutes and finally just gave up on the order. By then the breakfast buffet was closed. Buffet lunch hours was posted as 12:30pm and it didn’t open until 1:00pm. The room service never arrived. A few days later they tried room service again and again it didn’t show up. They didn’t even attempt to wait around as long the second time. Loved the kayaks and the beautiful beach. We appreciate the staff cleaning the seaweed daily."

"Pésima experiencia: Intoxicación alimentaria, chiripas en la habitación y total abandono de la administración Reservé un viaje de 5 días y 4 noches (del 16 al 20 de abril) a través de Expedia para celebrar mi cumpleaños con un grupo de amigos en el hotel Serenade, y la experiencia terminó siendo una pesadilla por culpa de la comida y la falta de higiene. Para empezar, en las habitaciones había chiripas, lo cual es inaceptable para un hotel de este tipo. El primer día llegamos de noche y la recepción de comida en el snack bar fue muy deficiente: las alitas eran diminutas (parecían de paloma) y la pizza tenía un sabor y apariencia pésimos. El segundo día el buffet estuvo bueno en el desayuno y el almuerzo. Sin embargo, el tercer día —el de mi cumpleaños— cenamos en un restaurante del hotel y comí una lasagna de cerdo que me cayó muy mal y me provocó una intoxicación estomacal terrible. Como no comí en ningún otro lugar fuera del hotel, la causa fue 100% esa cena. Pasé los siguientes dos días encerrada en la habitación (soportando además el problema de las chiripas). Para colmo, el servicio de enfermería del hotel es una exageración: me exigían un copago de $400 USD, además de pagar las medicinas por separado y los trámites del seguro. La administración del hotel mostró cero empatía y no brindó ningún tipo de apoyo o seguimiento a mi estado. Lo único rescatable fue la amabilidad del personal de los restaurantes, buffet y room service, quienes a título personal intent"

"My room was absolutely disgusting. There were roaches and gnats everywhere. The safe did not work. The shower leaked into my bedroom area. It smelled so bad of mold I went to bed with a headache every night. There were huge puddles of water outside my room every morning. The hallways and public bathrooms were filthy. The wait staff was the only pleasant part of the trip. The pools were dirty with objects floating around even first thing in the morning. The front desk was nasty and completely rude when you expressed any concerns. Totally useless and unhelpful. I could not wait to leave. Spent four nights there and it may have been my worst trip ever. This was my third trip to Punta Cana and I like to try new resorts, I don’t think I would ever try a RIU hotel again."
