"Beautiful property with great views, excellent staff. Convenient walk to town and at least one or two Quinta's (vineyards). Lovely pool and deck. Outdoor patio bar. Only not: breakfast and dinner menu pricey. But food excellent."

"Our stay at Casa de Casal de Loivos exceeded all our expectations—and I say that in spite of some windy, rainy days! Bernardo was so gracious and helpful. Before we even arrived he was letting us know about road closures and provided directions for the best route. Upon arrival, our bags were brought in for us and he even volunteered to park our car. The complementary snack and wine were delicious and enjoyed in front of a cozy fireplace. Bernardo provided information for hiking, port and wine tastings and restaurants. They provided breakfast and we also chose to have the family style dinner in their dinning room two evenings—it was delicious and the service was impeccable. The common areas and the rooms were spotless and the beds and bedding so comfortable. The staff was always friendly and courteous. As you can tell, we would highly recommend staying at Casa de Casal Loivos! Thank you Bernardo for making our stay so memorable. "

But I have fallen in love with Portugal and this property and the amazing people in it are the reason why. Most beautiful and most relaxing, welcoming place. "A stunning view of the Douro valley. We had an excellent dinner. One needs to make reservations beforehand to eat there. There is nowhere else in the area to dine. We were not given a dinner option however, the roast beef dinner was excellent as well as the dessert. The car ride up is a bit sketchy because it’s a VERY narrow to lane road winding up a Mt !! However the view makes the trip most worthwhile. Bedroom was nicely decorated and comfy. "
