"This was an unacceptable check-in experience, especially for what they charge per night. O
After a six-hour drive, we arrived around 7–8 PM to find the front desk closed, the property dark, and no staff available. There were no clear after-hours check-in instructions provided in advance—our Expedia confirmation only listed a 4 PM check-in time, with nothing about what to do if arriving later.
We called both the main number and the after-hours line multiple times and received no response. It was cold, raining, and the property is in a remote mountain area with very limited nearby options. Exhausted and unsure what to do, we did not feel comfortable waiting in a dark, empty parking lot with no way to access the room, so we had to find alternative lodging for the night.
The next day, we were told the key had been left in an envelope and that there was a note on the door. That may be their process, but it was not clearly communicated, not visible in the moment, and not a reasonable expectation after a long day of travel in poor conditions. For a property at this price point, check-in should be straightforward, well-lit, and clearly communicated in advance—not dependent on finding a note on a dark door.
To make matters worse, the property has denied a refund, claiming the issue did not occur, and redirected responsibility to Expedia, while Expedia says the property must approve the refund. We are now stuck in the middle despite being unable to access the room we paid for."
Mountain Brook 154 - Ski in/ Ski out at Saddleback
10/10 Excellent
"8 of us enjoyed this perfectly situated condo! We skied in/out and hosted and had a great time with local family and other friends renting near by. The condo was perfect for out group of 6 adults and 2 children. It was clean and well equipped. The check in and out was super easy and all my texts with M&F were answered quickly and by a human. The skiing was great and we really could not have asked for more! The kids did not want to leave and neither did we! Will come back again for sure!"
Private Chalet on Saddleback Mountain Ski Resort - Ski In / Ski Out
10/10 Excellent
"We loved the the auto twinkling lights that were on the outside of house as well as on the deck railings! There was also a lighted tree inside. Loved this even in March! Made us feel welcomed. My daughter and I brought five kids ranging from ages 11-16 and we had a wonderful stay. The open area of the Kitchen, dining, and living room was perfect for starting the day and then unwinding after a day of skiing. The kitchen was amazing. A perfect set up for our group. The kids could eat at the sprawling island. We did a 1000 piece puzzle at night at the dining table as well as having a night of cards. Watching movies on the big screen tv was relaxing. We could all be together. Bedrooms were nicely placed in the home. Plenty of bathrooms(4)! For skiing, the shuttle picked us up and dropped us off. My daughter doesn’t ski, so she could also drop us off and pick us up when we needed her to. The owner made sure the driveway and steps were sanded on the one morning we had freezing rain.. our morning to leave. We would highly recommend staying at this property! Other things we did besides ski and relax at the house: We walked up to the saddleback pub on a Sunday night for appetizers. We visited Evergreen Golf Club on first night for the golf simulator and snacks. We had an overall wonderful stay! "
Mountain Brook #133 - One bedroom ski in ski out on Saddleback Mountain
6/10 Okay
"Terrific location and great layout with everything on one floor. Details should more clearly state no washer and dryer option. The bed was extremely uncomfortable, way too soft and lumpy pillows."
Saddleback - Magalloway Loop Home 49 - great newly furnished home on the Mountain
8/10 Good
"Will start with #49 is not ski in/ski out as advertised, even with loads of snow, and the shuttle no longer runs. Ski out is breaking trail 200 yards behind the Magalloway homes to the Morning Glory trail, then be prepared to push at least 50% of the way to the chairlift. Coming off Saddleback, Morning Glory is a nice run down to where it intersects with the Magalloway Loop Rd, but you then you have to unclip and hike uphill on the road nearly a third of a mile back to the house. Complaining about this aspect because ski in/out was the key decider in choosing this location for us as several in our party were not skiing. That aside, the house itself is lovely, large and very clean, with a fully stocked kitchen making cooking at home a breeze. Two ensuite bedrooms very comfortable and spacious with large windows. Living room windows also lovely and light. Upstairs bedroom users will need to come downstairs to use a bathroom that essentially shares with the Q off the kitchen, and that room is small but the lofted sitting area of the bedroom makes up for that. Communications with Morton & Furbish were very good. Couple of things were not working: jets in the jacuzzi tub (but you can take a bath) and fireplace in the MBR. M&F said they would be sending someone to fix the fireplace after we left."
"We have rented over the last five years in the Rangely area for our February break and found this to be one of our favorite spots. If you're looking for something that has beautiful views, a quiet vibe and access to trails, fat tire biking and a quick drive to the mountain then this is a great place to consider. Beautiful, clean home! We will definitely look to come back and rent here again in the future."
Magalloway 57 is the largest rental home on Saddleback Mountain - 6 bedrooms, 5.5 bathrooms!
10/10 Excellent
"Everything was overwhelmingly positive. A few more towels might result in less laundry to be done. Less laundry when on vacation is always a treat. I’m not complaining, just explaining. Beautiful home!"
