"The place was very convenient. My family and I kept the main door open for about 15 minutes to let fresh air into the house, since there are no windows. There is a ventilation system, but the house carries a particular scent, perhaps typical of this type of construction. The location is very safe. "I really liked that there was everything you could need to be comfortable. You can tell there is someone considerate behind the administration. There was abundant drinking water, teas and coffee, water boiler, cups, etc in the common area. In the bathroom, shower cap, soap, and other amenities, enough towels for all the guests (this is not always the case). The family room was great with two rooms and ac in each one. "Gattini bills itself as a 5 star hotel. My partner and I would not normally pay the extra amount that that 5th star seems to require, but we were desperate to have a refuge from the August heat in Matera at the end of the day … and staying at Gattini was a great decision. It really is quite wonderful and didn’t seem so expensive once we experienced all the good things that Gattini offered. The breakfast was the best we had in 51 days of travel in Spain Portugal and then Italy. Our thanks to the great staff for a great experience in Matera."

"The EuroStars hotel in Matera is a terrific place to stay. It is a very nice property: very clean, that is quite modern, with spacious rooms, and very well located. An advantage to staying here is that there is a parking lot in the back of the property, where you can easily unload your luggage and park the car for your entire stay in Matera, as you will be able to access all important sites in Matera by walking to them. Additionally, there are plenty of restaurants and shops close to the hotel. Furthermore, the hotel staff is terrific. The young lady at the reception desk, who spoke perfect English, in addition to fluent Spanish as well as her native Italian language, was very attentive and provided us with a useful map of Matera and also traced for us the walking route starting from the hotel to all of the sites that we wanted to visit. Although we only had one full day in Matera, I highly recommend to spend two days in Matera to truly enjoy it on a more leisurely pace - as Matera along with Lecce and the old town in Bari are the most interesting locales in southern Italy. (We spent 3 full weeks in touring southern Italy by car.) I also highly recommend this hotel. You will be delighted regarding your stay at this lovely hotel."
