Perfect spot for short stay in Reykjavik
Our group of 3 couples all enjoyed this cottage for our first few nights in Iceland! Location and amenities of the property were just what we needed - and each couple had enough privacy within the cottage. The well-curated decor was cheery and modern, and the hot pot was the icing on the cake! We will hope to return!

Amazing! Just amazing!
The house is just beautiful, clean and very comfortable. I love simple Icelandic style. It’s simple but very high quality. The house is very close to the famous church. Actually, you can see it from the bedroom window. It’s very easy to communicate with the host. I feel that I had been kind of bothersome prior to our trip, asking him many questions. He was always gracious and helpful. I already told Bjorn that we would be back. The cleanness of his house met even my standards! Thank you!

Great location, terrible beds
The best thing, by far, about the property is the location. An easy walk to museums, cafes and tourist sites, Moon Cottage is ideally situated for a Reykjavik visit. But, and it is a big BUT, the property is smaller than it appears from online photos and every movement can be heard through the thin walls. The bedrooms are up a very steep flight of stairs but the climb is barely worth it. I have not slept in beds this bad since my student days and three of our party left with aching backs. The fourth person was ok but only because they checked out on the first night and move to a nearby hotel. The listing claims to sleep six but the downstairs sofa bed has a mattress so thin that a better night would be spent sleeping on corrugated iron. The house is well-stocked, the host accessible and friendly but neither of those things overcame the awfulness of those beds.

Lovely house in excellent location!
The house was nice and comfortable and clean. Communication with Bjorn throughout the booking and during our stay was easy with quick responses. Everything that was needed was provided in the house, except a dryer...the house has a washing machine, but no dryer. Fortunately, the heated towel drying racks (there are 2) worked well for drying our clothes. The location is perfect- easy walking distance to the center of Reykjavik. We had a car and easily found parking on the street in front of the house without difficulty (one time had to circle around the block a few times until a spot opened). The neighborhood was quiet with a few of the "Cats of Reykjavik" hanging around occasionally! Highly recommend this location!

The Moon Cottage was perfect!
From start to finish our stay at the Moon Cottage was perfect! It was easy to get to and in a great location, as we were able to walk easily to restaurants, stores and the Cathedral where all the fireworks were being set off on New Year’s Eve. The cottage was just the right size for 5 adults, was clean and had all that we needed. There was even a “hot pot” on the patio to sit in and relax after a long day of touring. I was in touch with the owner prior to our trip, asking questions about the cottage and he responded to me within hours if not minutes. Overall, we loved our stay in Iceland and would 100% recommend the Moon Cottage!

Perfect apartment for our stay in Reykjavik
The Moon Cottage was absolutely perfect for our visit to Reykjavik. The apartment is located in an area that makes walking to restaurants and sites very easy. We were a family of four , with two bedrooms upstairs and a full bath with shower. The downstairs living room area was easily converted to a third bedroom as the access to the hallway and dining room can be closed to provide privacy. There's also a full bath with shower on the first level. We never had a chance to take advantage of the "hot pot" in the courtyard as we were too busy touring. Checkin and checkout was very easy with a lockbox code that was provided prior to our arrival. We would highly recommend this apartment!

Great Location!
This is a cute little house, centrally located in the middle of Reykjavík. We were able to walk to all sites. It is also close to a number of grocery stores and has a nice dining area to facilitate home cooked meals. It also has an unusually good number of electric outlets though out the house. A few things to note: * We were 5 adults, and, as we were using the living room as a third bedroom, there was not a lot of extra space for hanging and socializing. * We arrived at 8pm on a weeknight and had to park pretty far away. There were rarely parking spaces open directly in front of the house. * To reach and use the microwave on top of fridge, we had to stand on a chair. * There is a nice new washing machine in the upstairs bathroom, but no dryer or drying rack. * There were some supplies in the kitchen (plates, pots and pans, knives), but be prepared to buy spices or other condiments * Check Google street view for a picture of the outside of the house, as nextdoor is also house #22. The cozy house uses space very efficiently, with drawers and shelves to unpack in each of the three sleeping areas. There is a large dining room table and doors that open onto the back patio to create airflow and the feel of open space. The hotpot (i.e., hot tub) in the back was great and provided an authentic Iceland experience :) The bathrooms are both nice, with heated floors, great towels, and a nice rock floor in the shower. Overall, a nice place to Reykjavik, especially if you are four or fewer people.

The property was just as described on line. The location is terrific. We took several tours and the five minute walk to the pick up stop at bus #8 was very convenient. Great little house in excellent location
Small 2-story house is fully equipped with all the essentials. Excellent location, near the Hallgrimskirkja. 5 minutes from the Pond, and 15 minutes from the harbor. On the main floor, there is a kitchen, dining room, living room, bathroom, and outdoor patio with hot tub. Bedrooms and another bathroom are on the second floor, up a stairway that is rather steep. Owner was very helpful, providing a map showing recommended restaurants and other amenities in the area. A great find!

The location is fantastic as it is very centrally located and easy to walk to all the visitor locations, restaurants, shopping, groceries, bars, etc. Reykjavik is a wonderful city and fun to walk around and explore. A week was definitely not long enough. Reykjavik and Iceland greatly exceeded our expectations and we are anxious to come again. When we do, we will definitely book this unit again. Loved the moon cottage! The location is perfect for seeing the city, and the cottage is charming. Thought has been put into the layout and furniture, and the kitchen is lovely and perfectly stocked. Both bathrooms are very nice with heated towel racks and floors. Didn't have a chance to use the hot pot, but it's great I'm sure, and the patio is cute and private. Excellent Stay in Reykjavik
We (my wife and I plus two adult children) just got back from 7 nights in Reykjavik. There are several things worth emphasizing about this house, where we stayed our entire time. From the outside, it is a very picturesque cottage set in a quiet residential area. Inside, the kitchen and both bathrooms are completely modernized. Kitchen is well stocked. Everything is clean. All the rooms are good sized. We were comfortable when inside, and with three separate bedrooms we all could have privacy when we wanted it. But of course, you are not going to Iceland to spend all your time inside. Everyday we were either exploring the city or going on day trips around the island, and this house was ideally located to serve both purposes. It is a less than a 5 minute walk to the historic downtown area with its many shops and excellent restaurants. It is also a less than 5 minute walk to Bus Stop 8 next to the Hallgrímskirkja chuch (a tourist destination in its own right), where virtually all excursions operating out of Reykjavik collect passengers for day trips outside of the city. Highly recommended!

Adorable Icelandic Retreat
Moon Cottage was the perfect home away from home. It is located in a quiet neighborbood within easy walking distance of Central Reykjavik's restaurants and shops. We were five adults. The house is not huge, but it makes practical use of all of the space, and there was plenty of room for all of us. The best feature is that the house has two full bathrooms and both are large. There are two bedrooms upstairs. The living room had a sofa bed which was very comfortable. The comfortable sofa bed was an added bonus because so many are not comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with appliances and dishes. There is a washer, which was extremingly helpful. My only suggestions would be to add a dryer. It rained while we were there and it was hard to dry the cloths in the damp weather. Both bathrooms have a heated towel dryer, which really helped. The owner was wonderful to deal with. He provided lots of practical and helpful information (about Moon Cottage and Reykjavik) prior to our arrival and always responded to my emails quickly. Another bonus was the excellent quality of the towels; they were large and soft. The hot tub needs a little work. We did not get in it, but it looked like the paint was pealing. This is not a big deal, though. Moon Cottage definitely is "Excellent" and we would stay here again.

Great location and beautiful cottage
The Moon Cottage is beautiful, up to date and on a quiet street within easy walking distance to shops and restaurants. We enjoy having use of a kitchen when we travel and this one supplied everything needed. The towel warmers in the bathrooms are especially nice. Before arrival I read a previous review which stated the windows had blackout shades, and although I do not consider the pull-down window shades to be blackout we were able to sleep okay at night. I would recommend this cottage for a stay in Iceland.

A+++ location, amenities and comfort!
We loved staying in Moon Cottage! A few things we loved: a) Round table for 6 - perfect to stay in and cook and enjoy our meals, key with the prices in Iceland! b) Two bathrooms - both very updated and key for a group of 5. Two hairdryers too! c) Washer/dryer - we visited on a rainy week so this came in handy. d) Dishwasher, large fridge e) Location - 10-15 minute walk to the middle of town, could not have been easier. 5 minute walk to church where many tours pick up from. f) Easy street parking - we often got a spot right in front of the house or on a nearby street. g) Hot tub out back - sore from hiking? Perfect to relax. h) Dark shades - key with 20+ hours of daylight. Great communication. Overall, we had a great stay and would not hesitate to come back and stay again!

Easy and comfortable place to stay
The moon cottage was a wonderful place for our family while in Reykjavik. It's in a great location for walking places (we did not rent a car). There is a supermarket called Bonus in walking distance (check the hours because it closes a bit earlier than one might expect). Between shopping for food at Bonus and the extremely well-stocked kitchen at moon cottage, our family ate fairly affordably in Iceland. We loved the heated flooring and heated towel racks in Moon Cottage. We highly recommend this VRBO.

Lovely home in downtown area
We stayed for 3 nights at the Moon Cottage in Reykjavic and absolutely loved it. The house was super clean and the decor was charming. Beds were very comfortable and the updated showers were wonderful with rain shower heads and a handheld. With the Smart TV I was even able to log into my Netflix account and watch movies. The men even filled the hot pot one evening and really enjoyed it. From the house we could walk anywhere in town and the bus stop for tours was only a 5 min walk away. There were lots of restaurants to choose from and you don't have to worry about only having fish choices. We didn't have any shark or whale....haha. Every kind of food is available....American, Italian, Chinese, Tai, etc. We expected Iceland to be expensive and it was. I would say that everything cost about double (and a bit more) of what we are used to paying in Canada. A hamburger and fries averaged about $40 CAD. Beer was $10 bottle (and $17/bottle at Blue Lagoon). One great tip the owner passed along to me was to take a taxi from the airport if you are a group of 4 or more vs the bus. The taxi cost us $200 CAD ($50 per person) one way from airport to the doorstep of the house, whereas the Skybus was $60 per person and you had to drag your luggage from the bus stop. Considering we had no idea where the house was in town, it was great to be dropped off at our rented house. For excursions we did the Free Walking Tour of Reykjavik which I highly recommend. It gave us some great history of the city and our guide was funny and knowledgeable. We also did the Golden Circle and a trip to the Blue Lagoon. The Blue Lagoon is pricey ($110 admission and $50 bus transfer) but I loved it. There wasn't a lot of people when we were there so lots of room to swim around in the blue warm water. I loved the ambiance of the lagoon. I highly recommend the Moon Cottage. The owner was fabulous to deal with and answered all of my communications promptly.

Wonderful house with comfortable beds and well-equipped kitchen. The property owner was helpful and took care of any concerns. We walked all over the city from this location.
