"The room was large, warm and the bed was comfortable. The food in the bar and at breakfast was nice and the staff were great. The room was a little tired and upon arrival we noticed a strong smell coming from the base of the toilet (where it meets the floor). A good scrub using some cleaner from the spar shop sorted it out but I’m not sure how it has not been noticed by the cleaning staff. On a positive note the shower was like a massage as it had super strong water pressure. Location is great as it’s a short walk to the beach and there’s plenty parking. "

"The proprietor, Sue, is an artist and it shows. Everywhere you see a special touch of interesting art and decorations. She is also Thai so there is a Thai buffet on Thursdays. The food is delicious. The rooms are renovated and comfortable and everyone working there is exceedingly helpful. Try this place since you can't beat the price or location, right across from the train and bus stops. "

"Amazing three-course dinner with a sommelier assisting with the wine selection. On point reception staff who gave brilliant advice. Comfortable upper level of the castle to play board games and have late night drinks. Also, a convenient location for the Menai Straits with great views across to Snowdonia park. Would recommend for friends or partner meet up and only exception was breakfast that advertised as Welsh although had elements of a full English, with only mediocre taste or flavourings that was in contrast to the previous night's dinner at the Castle. This food was served up in the 1970s in the UK."

"Average stay"

"The slate is a lovely hotel ,cosy and comfortable .the reception is welcoming and clean and there's a lovely log burner in the bar that gives the plase an atmospheric smell. Evening meal was really good and good value for the home cooked food we enjoyed . Breakfast was really good and just started the day perfectly . We recommend to anyone and we'd definitely stay again when visiting Wales ."

"A lovely place to stay. They have everything you need in the room for example a smart TV and the shower is really decent, very clean and modern overall 10/10 staff friendly and helpful too I highly recommend."

" Faded Victorian excellence trying to satisfy today's tourists and not quite managing it (building is over 190 years old). Our double room was more like a single room. Buffet breakfasts Ok, dinners no more than average. Car parking difficult!"
