Welcome to Walden! A place that combines the beauty of the natural world with the warmth of a modern cabin. Located on 50 acres or protected land along the historic Shenandoah River, Walden offers one of the most spectacular retreats in the valley.

(The riverfront is solely for the use of our guests at Walden and Sundance, {VRBO#385043} Although Sundance and Walden share the riverfront, the two cabins are completely private from one anther.)

Excelent and perfect location

The cabin is excellent, it is very well equipped, in addition to an excellent space for a campfire and being close to the river. Very confortable space for a relaxing vacation.

Great Location

The stay was very pleasant. Everything was very clean including the outdoor furniture! Be sure to bring your own bedding. Luray is about 15 minute drive with some shops, and a Walmart for last-minute items. Recommend and would visit again.

Great Autumn Getaway

My husband and I have stayed at Walden several times and had another terrific visit. The fall leaves are beautiful addition to an already great view. Cabin is perfect private, quiet, peaceful place for us to getaway to. We've made many fantastic memories :-)

Awesome property for visiting Shenandoah NP and Luray

We really enjoyed the privacy and the property met all of our expectations. Even though we didn't spend as much time at Walden as we would have liked, it was a great place to start and finish each day. We enjoyed the well stocked kitchen and the grill for preparing meals and we also enjoyed the restful evenings in the hot tub.

Five years of staying at Walden and it is amazing every single time. Privacy, beautiful landscape, perfect cabin with all the amenities and the wonderful hot tub makes for a perfect get away. We can’t wait to go back!

Peaceful getaway

Very enjoyable, relaxing stay. Our dog loved it as well. The cabin had everything we needed and was very clean. Had to make a last minute change and our property manager was extremely accommodating. Would stay there again for sure.

Perfect 40th Anniversary!

Walden was the perfect choice to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. My husband and I loved the peaceful environment, including the walk to the river and being greeted by deer each day. Hiking, Luray Caverns, and Skyline Drive were just a short drive from the cabin. There was plenty of firewood and the hot tub was clean and ready to go. This place has it all!

Excellent Stay !!!

I surprised my wife for our anniversary and I have to say it was everything I was looking for. Cabin was very clean, updated and well maintained. It was secluded with a beautiful mountain view with easy access to Rt340. If your looking for a romantic getaway I definitely recommend the Walden Cabin.

Peaceful Retreat!

This is simply a lovely cabin, very comfortable with every little detail in place to make your stay enjoyable and easy. The windows and view are peaceful. My little dog and I enjoyed the quiet and sitting on the screened in porch. The owner was very kind and helped me get set up with the new TV. We hope to return again soon!

Awesome place

Walden is a peaceful sanctuary ideally located between Front Royal and Luray, and minutes to Shenandoah NP…54 riverfront acres provided seclusion and privacy, along with beautiful views. Remember to bring bedding and towels… we were surprised by this omission, but rectified at the local Walmart in Luray… Overall, a wonderful getaway on the Shenandoah Valley

Beautiful Birthday Get-a-way!

My husband and I rented Walden for my birthday weekend. It was absolutely amazing! It was clean, quiet and so peaceful! We ate meals on the screened in porch, enjoyed the hot tub and spent a lot of time down at the river. The walk down to the river was beautiful! Love this place & can't wait to go back!!!

Walden Visit

Nice, clean and newer cabin. Not easy to find at night. Everything is fairly new and working well. Many deer to see in the mornings and evenings. We had no issues at all.

Beautiful and secluded cabin, well kept and in great shape. Perfect walk to the river, straight out of a romance novel. Quiet woods and field, enjoy the night sky without any interruptions.

Anniversary Bliss

We’ve been visiting the Shenandoah Valley for our anniversary for many years now and this was by far our favorite place to stay. It was clean, appeared freshly painted, furniture was in excellent condition, and the decor matched the vibe of the house/property without being excessive. The view and privacy awarded by the property allowed us to escape our responsibilities and fully relax and enjoy our time together. We will definitely be looking to book this cabin again on our next visit!

Amazing location to relax and unwind.

Great spot to take your dogs for a walk and unwind by the river. Perfectly located between Lurray & Front Royal. Cabin has everything you need to relax and get away from life for a bit. Property is clean, well maintained, and help is only a message away if you should need assistance. They even have a river walk set up for the guests to help you unwind and enjoy the views along the Shenandoah river. In my opinion this property deserves more than 5 stars!
