"I recently stayed at the Catamaran Resort in San Diego and had a pleasant but mixed experience. On the positive side, the location is fantastic, the grounds are absolutely beautiful, and the private beach access is a wonderful perk that we truly enjoyed. While we had a good time overall, I found the resort to be a bit overpriced for the level of service provided. The property and guest rooms are starting to show their age and could definitely use some updates to justify the premium price point. When compared to more affordable local options like The Dana or the Bahia, the Catamaran didn't feel significantly more upscale. The service was the most inconsistent part of our stay. Specifically, the staff at the bar were not very welcoming or friendly, and our room went uncleaned for the first two days we were there. Additionally, the poolside dining experience was a bit disorganized; staff would drop orders at a communal table and walk away, leaving guests to figure out which meal belonged to whom. While we enjoyed the scenery and the stay was fine, the lack of hospitality and the need for property updates make it hard to choose this over less expensive, comparable hotels in the area. I likely wouldn't return given the other high-value options nearby."

"We arrived early to see if we could get an early check in, ut we couldn't, no biggie. Then we received a text about 4:18, I believe, saying our room was ready, which was fine because we were already out at the pool. The pool was beyond crowded, not the best kept, the main pool was super cloudy, there was hair in several places where you walk, i know its inevitable, and some trash under lounge chairs. I only saw two employees working. It was definitely under-staffed for every seat being used. Three water slides was the coolest! At least my kids thought so, lol! No one came and asked if we needed anything. We ordered at the bar and they were helpful. I'm not complaining one bit, but the whole one night we were there, I know, super short, the best thing was Phillip! He was the concierge staff. He was rad! Sweet and funny and beyond helpful! We joked around with each other, he asked everyone in line where they were from, he laughed with people, he offered water to everyone. He may be "just" a concierge employee, but he seemed to enjoy his job and enjoy the people coming in and out. He was awesome. Thank you, Phillip!! He is one of the reason we would return! The other reason is our room was one of the cleanest rooms we have had. So thank you to the cleaning staff as well. Not one thing out of place, not one hair left by someone, beds were perfectly made, great view of the pool, looked clean and smelt clean and even my husband was impressed. Thank you, Hyatt! "Beautiful property with amazing views of the bay. Exceptional staff through. Was upgraded from jr suite to a full suite upon arrival and it was amazing room - spacious, clean, comfy bed, great balcony. Room service was great and quick and breakfast poolside was excellent. Fabulous stay!"
