"The staff were lovely and very helpful and friendly. The room was comfortable and clean. The restaurant, coffee shop and breakfast room mentioned in the right up were all part of the motorway services. Costa was good for breakfast. The breakfast room food was cold and awful especially trying to eat it with a wooden knife and fork."

"Loved everything about the place, great specced rooms at fair prices and the steak I had for dinner there was top notch. Only minor downside was that the gentleman who booked me in said it was room only, whereas when I booked through hotels.com it said free breakfast. I should have queried it with him, but I let it slide as everything else was perfect. Maybe the owner needs to check the advertisement on hotels.com? Otherwise, couldn't recommend enough. I would happily stay again on my next visit."

"This is a wonderful hotel, staff are friendly and helpful, rooms are large and well furnished and the breakfast menu is excellent served in a lovely restaurant. The restaurant also served delicious meals at lunch and in the evening. The only way this could be improved would be to add a gym please."

"Lovely well kept grounds,comfortable beds,helpful staff and food decent enough. Nice walk into town centre. I would like a better light for nighttime reading and a bigger television(visual impairment) My 3rd time staying here while visiting the D and G hospital and I would happily stay here again."

"The Hill Hotel is located in a quiet location, but is only a 10-15 minute walk into the center of Dumfries. The building interior has been lovingly restored, and is very clean. The owners are very friendly and gave us lots of great advice about places to visit in the surrounding areas. A very good breakfast too! Highly recommended."

We were expecting a comfortable stay, good hospitality, quiet surroundings, easy parking… and that is EXACTLY what we got. Zero complaints and would happily book again if in the area."
